Trichomes or should I say lack of them

Hi guys

My mate asked me to go over his to have a look at his plants, so nipped over and was surprised at what I had seen

He’s growing incredible bulk and there about 4-5ft tall, full of buds and looking healthy.

Most of them are dripping with trichomes but 4 of them aren’t!

They look different to the others, what I mean is 4 of them are leafy as hell and lack trichomes.
The rest look stunning..

Is it just genetic? Is there anything he can do to get them to produce more?

I’ve had many successful grow so no beginner and I’ve never seen this and neither has my mate who as well is an experienced grower

Yes my money's on the bad phenotype then. Never know, might still be a decent smoke

Turns out it was a bad pheno, another lad I know did same plants from the cuttings of them and they ended up the same. Nice buds but just no thc. Waste of time
