my trichomes are still clear and milky did i miss harvest optimum? what happens after they go amber in color?

im not really sure i bought some clones this year/ i suppose its average sativa w/ one indica Im a rookie grower only my third time. i wish I could buy seeds im too scared of gettin busted. i have really enjoyed the process and the accomplishment of growing it myself its rewarding as a hobby for me.I wish it were legal here like in cali to have a handfull of plants , however its not the case for me yet. im waiting on the day its got to be close
lets hope we (ca) has the courage to pass 19 which will open the door for the rest of the country.....
