Norman police reportedly seized more than 90 pounds of marijuana Monday, after pulling over a vehicle occupied by two men from El Paso, Texas.

Arturo Almanzar Jr., 25, and Victor Alfonso Cano-Molina, 20, were charged Tuesday in Cleveland County District Court with trafficking in marijuana and failure to display a tax stamp on a controlled dangerous drug.

According to court documents, a patrol officer stopped the northbound vehicle at I-35 and Main Street after spotting a broken windshield that partially obstructed the driver's view. The officer said the men acted nervous and gave him inconsistent statements about their destination. After issuing Almanzar, the driver, a warning for equipment failure, the officer said he asked for and received permission to search the vehicle.

A K-9 unit was called in, and the dog indicated the presence of drugs in the trunk, police said. Officers said they located a taped package of marijuana behind the back seat, and continued to search the vehicle while the men were transported to the Norman Police Department. Police said they ultimately recovered about 93.5 pounds of marijuana from the vehicle, with an estimated street value of more than $56,000.
