Topping to even canopy before flower & during flower

I did several searches and couldn’t quite find my answer. I am doing an outside grow. A have a few forbidden fruit in ten gallon bag. They are growing extremely well and vigorously.

Not all tops are the same height though, and one side seems to want to go up faster than the other.

I am wondering if topping the higher tops before flower to even out canopy is ideal? I actually did this the other day with one branch by accident. I broke 3 inches off one taller branch, I was like SHIT, but when i stepped back I was like, right on!!!!

I assume this isn’t news to experienced growers. I’m a novice. :) I don’t want one cola goin nuts on me, which I’ve seen in some instances.

The even canopy is mainly for indoor grows because indoor growers have a stationery light. No need to do that outside.maybe a topping won't hurt but I would not do too much. Your just trimming away yields. If anything you might want a few support sticks that's all
