Too long of a drying period?

I'm going to be away for about 10 days. My plants are starting to show some amber trichs (mostly milky) now, and I'm afraid if I leave it in the soil, it might go too far when I get back, and lose too much potency. That said, I'm thinking about chopping it to keep it at what seems optimal right now.
Can I just hang the entire plant without cutting branches for 10 days in a dark area, or will that dry it out and make it super harsh? Did I screw myself timing wise? Am I going to have to choose between smooth smoke just makes me tired, or do I have to go with super harsh weed that dried out? Will I be able to revive it with a long cure when I get back, or will it still be ok after hanging for 10 days as a whole plant?

You can hang the whole plant, many outdoor growers dry the whole plant. By leaving the plant whole, it will actually take longer to dry and unless its quite dry where you live, 10 days is unlikely to be too long
