Nashville - Metro and Clarksville law enforcement officials announced yesterday that they seized 721 pounds of marijuana in what was described as a drug ring reaching from Midland, Texas, to Nashville.
Five men were arrested in the Dec. 24 operation, including Nashville resident Lovard D. Horton, 36, of 2800 Louise Russell Drive in Nashville, who police said was receiving large shipments of marijuana from a Texas man.
Police also arrested Jose Omar Mora, 22, of Midland, Texas, who police said used a hidden compartment in a horse trailer to haul marijuana. Alberto Montanez Guevara, 20, of Midland, Texas, Mora's passenger, also was arrested, police said.
According to a police statement, Jimmy Percell, 32, of Royal Crest Avenue of Nashville arrived at a home at 1902 Valley Park Drive in east Nashville with Tony Harris, 40, of Herald Lane in Murfreesboro, to take the marijuana out of the trailer.
All five men were charged with taking part in a marijuana distribution conspiracy. Bond was set at $150,000 for Horton and Percell, $200,000 for Mora and Guevara, and $100,000 for Harris.
The investigation was conducted by the 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the 19th Judicial District Drug Task Force based in Clarksville.
