A group of legal and medical experts gathered in Nashville Thursday night to discuss the legalization of medical marijuana.
The Medical Cannabis Symposium took place at Vanderbilt Law School.
Those in attendance talked about scientific and legal implications of medical marijuana.
The speakers were legal experts, a former prosecutor and a Vanderbilt physician who urged the state of Tennessee to legalize marijuana.
"I pray every day it is [legalized]. Because there are thousands of Tennesseans in their beds right now, in pain. And this would be something that could really dramatically improve their lives," Dr. Kimberly Vera told News 2.
A total of 23 states and the District of Columbia currently allow the use of medical marijuana.
