Time of day to harvest your plants

So , I have been told that early morning is best...I don't know why.I am reading a book "Weed,Adventures of a dope smuggler" By Jerry Kamstra. Great book...Well it was from 1973 I think.Anyway the way they knew when to harvest was when the plants were really sticky....And they cut them down in the heat of the day as they were stickiest then....hmmm early technology ? Now this was weed from the mountains of central Mexico....To me it does make sense to drop them in the heat of the day..They do seem stickier mid day..Any thoughts? Happy Hemping ,Red

I believe most people cut in the morning or before lights on because the plant has been in a sleeping state and hasn't been absorbing nutrients since no photosynthesis is occuring. It makes since but I've cut during lights on and in the dark and the end product seemed the same too me. The plants seem a little stiffer when I cut during lights on and are not falling all over the place as bad but that's about it. I couldn't tell a difference in taste or anything.

As for a plant being stickier during the day most likely has to do with the warm Trichome heads. I would prefer them cooler with that smell locked in the trics. Sticky trics are pulled off the bud when touched and I'm trying to keep those on my nugs as best as I kind.

Yep perfectly cut between 6 and 9 am, before sun wakes them up for well. I believe you're gonna get a better product this way providing you dry and cure very carefully too.

Hmmm ,Well now that I'm retired I'm kind of a swing shiftier and don't get up too early.I just wondered if it was worth getting up early for ..haha So if its sleeping what advantage is there if they are not taking up nutrients ? Taste ? Curing question. You put dry buds in a jar and cap it.Next day no dampness inside.Dry enough? I have been tending to let my plants get too dry I guess.I hung some up and 2 weeks later i dropped them into the jar n capped it and next day zero dampness showing. I just worry about mold..mabey too much.I put some not so dry buds in a jar and same thing, no condensation in 8 hours. It should show by then i would think.... So that is a sign that they are ready to seal up ...right? Thanks Red

I doubt it makes enough difference to final product to warrant picking a specific time to harvest. but if you feel its better to do at a certain time you could do a big leave removal the day before harvest. remove every fan leaf from the plant then if you are pressed for time on harvest day you can just cut plant from the stem and hang it until you are ready to prune it.

Ive harvested many thousands of plants all at different times and see no noticeable difference. It all boils down to the drying and curing process and having made sure plants had a good flush if using bottled nutes.

Good luck.

Well the not so dry ones did show moisture within 24 hours.I opened them up and will let them breath for a while, over night..So the ones with no sign of dampness are ok,right?

I have read that farms growing flowers for fragrance harvest within the first 2 hours of light. It is said that this is when terpene levels are highest. This is also the time that hydraulic pressure is highest within the plant, forcing goodies into the buds. I do mine in the morning, but I don't honestly know if it matters.
