The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Ya know... we toss fancy digital doodads into our world and just make things uglier. What was wrong with a mechanical thermostat... or a mechanical timer?
I have dreams of digital destruction. Have we improved life with all the 1's and 0's? Is it better or worse?
I'd have to fall on the 'worse' side of the line... and I do 1's and 0's professionally.

Hey Tead, I'm with ya brotha...I tried a fancy digital timer a couple yrs. ago and almost lost a crop because of it. Ever walk past your GR and see the lights on , when they should be off!!! Ya ...not good ....chucked the digital timer and went back to my 15 dollar mechanical version. Bin using the same one for about two yrs. now without ONE hiccup!!!! Want an hour or two less...just pull a pin or two...want more time , push in a pin or two....works great , is cheap and has NEVER failed me...not once....wow what a deal eh...all for 15 bucks.Cheers. Of course ...I'm also the only person to walk this planet without a cell phone...:blunt:
OH, almost forgot why I dropped by....just cruising thru SS...wanted to say hello and have an awesome weekend girl!

Wrong!

There's at least one other guy who still doesn't have one! Dis guy! In fact, heheh, I don't even own a portable. :cheesygrinsmiley: The other day, I heard myself saying "give me a minute, I'll be right back" and set the phone down. All my phones are wired to the wall and I can't take them with me. That's normal for me, a 20th Century man, but it's odd for others. I don't even have caller ID, so people think I know that they called but I don't. They think I know who's calling me without having to tell me.

I think this is the year though - it's really pretty silly. I think I spend more right now for internet services than a phone package would cost - 2 phone lines, 2 DSLs, plus cable.

Dark Devil looks like a strawberry plant :)

My how the little ones change when they grow up !

Separating tents into an auto tent and a photo tent makes the perpetual grow more complicated than having a veg tent and a flower tent.

For perpetual, seems to me like you should flip one tent to flowering light (when ready) and move the girls from the veg tent to the flower tent (when ready.)

Your small closet could be a 'floating' purpose area: Seedling nursery, cloning, grafting experiments, intensive training, extra flowering space as needed.

you need a bigger tent :laughtwo:

i went to the 7x7 to make room for autos and veg.. sounds good anyways. heh. but that's the way i work it. 3x3 for nursery and all the above mentioned. except right now the nursery has been moved to a dog kennel (yep ingenuity lol) so Bridget and Co can do their thing. half of the 7x7 is for auto's now. the Mars 192 reflector handles that wonderfully! :) the other half is for mothers and pre-flower. Mars 300 and 600 handle that side. once Bridget is done with the other 300 it will go back in between, but things are fine without it. the 4x8 flower tent is still running 1000w HPS and an additional 600w when needed. once i figure out my taxes i might be able to convert that to a few Mars reflectors or maybe Mars II .. :)

You so perfectly epitomize the manic thought processes of the driven cannabis cultivator. "MORE SPACE!!! MORE LIGHT!!!"

I made myself do it. I've been staring at this plant for days trying to get up the courage to top her. She's had a nice week to get used to the new environment. I felt like it was today or not at all and dammit!!! I was tired of being fearful of it. I have to take chances again.

Dark Devil Auto (Day 21)

It's all arteekay's fault. I went looking at how recent successful grows have handled their own DDA specimens and I'm already running ten days behind his first topping. That kicked me in the butt. Thanks for the motivation.

 :hugs:

 so true. notice i said reflector 192 when it's actually a 144. i've been eyeing those 192 2 packs lately. would probably do the flower tent just about right. :)

Then I decided to follow my instincts with the Fantasmo Express as well. She's at day 23.

 Ya....me too Gray! My son's cell phone contract runs out this summer , so, ...I put a claim in for his ss4. To tell ya the truth, if I get it , I won't even know how to answer it if it rings....will it ring or make funny noises?
I know what ya mean too about seeming weird to most people....what do ya mean , you don't have a cell phone?? You should see the crazy looks I get when I say that. I work at a local university and the kids are on their cells constantly...almost banging in to each other while they walk and text! I wanna t shirt that says, "I don't yield to texters" HA HA HA! People don't want to talk any more ...just text ....now that's weird! Anyhow , nice chatting with ya today Gray...cheers my brotha. :passitleft: Have a puff bud....it's some OK High Brix Weed! Just OK....:surf::slide:

Let me slide in here and grab a quick hit.

:passitleft:

See Graytail, they're going to get you in the end. :laughtwo: I find it challenging, to say the least, to be without the convienience of my cell phone, but I share the concern that we all get too wrapped up in it. Balance in all things. :battingeyelashes:

HI Sue,

How is "The House of a Hundred Varieties" coming along? You won't need a bigger space, just lots of little ones to run 2 or so similar gals together. Or, maybe a huge area with one gigantic sun like light. You got one of those in all that cool stuff right? Just black in the windows and be done with it. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I love many type grows. Total pain in the tail to do but so much fun.
Bob ;)

I'm off studying the DNA methylation cycle. This is a typical paragraph of what I've been wandering through for over a week now. I have to work in small spurts because......, well, you'll see. :laughtwo:

DNA methylation is established during early development and maintained through generations by DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs). DNA methylation can be erased during replication if DNMTs fail to methylate the daughter strand, a process named passive demethylation. However, in multiple instances, DNA demethylation in mammalian cells has been observed in the absence of DNA replication. The mechanisms for the active DNA demethylation pathways that must be at work in these non-replicating cells had been elusive for decades, until 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) was identified as the so-called sixth base in 2009 [4, 5]. 5hmC is oxidized from 5mC by the TET (ten-eleven translocation) family of iron(II)/α-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenases, and is proposed to be a new epigenetic mark that constitutes the first step in an active pathway for DNA demethylation. Indeed, subsequent studies revealed that 5hmC can be further oxidized by TET enzymes to 5-formylcytosine (5fC) and 5-carboxylcytosine (5caC). 5fC and 5caC can be excised by thymine DNA glycosylase (TDG), and subsequently converted to cytosine through base excision repair, thus concluding the first biochemically validated active demethylation pathway in mammalian cells (for review, see [6]).

Whew!! I can't find "methylation for dummies" worth a damn, so I'm left with having to translate this stuff. It takes so much brainpower it makes me sigh, but then....

How do you read that and not come away absolutely amazed at the intricate workings of the human body? I'm in awe. I feel like a babe lost in the woods, but one in awe of the magnificence of my prey. Methylation is a necessary part of everything that makes you who you are, mentally and physically, and I dare say, likely spiritually as well. Hypermethylation has been targeted in cancer protocols, so I really want to understand this because it's bound to have serious implications in a cannabis-based protocol.

Back to the grind. I still haven't been able to explain it in simple terms. :ciao:

Good evening Dr. Bob. :hugs: It's going really well in there, thanks. You see I finally got the courage up to start training the autos? That took a moment and more talking to myself than I'm comfortable admitting, to be honest. :laughtwo: Only two more to get at. I'll figure out what I want to do with them tomorrow. That was enough gut-wrenching trauma for me today.

I'm liking the smaller tents so far. Let's see how I feel when they get really big. The photos I'm going to train like Graytail. That worked well for me last time and I need the practice to do better this time.

It's so good to be growing again. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Well I finally caught up on your garden while sitting in my easy chair with my laptop. Things are looking great!!!:circle-of-love::peace:

Thanks supergroomer. Glad you're feeling better. I got into a purging mode and just finished packing up three more boxes and taking four trips to the dumpster. My bedroom closet is empty. Completely empty except packing supplies. I now have 16 boxes for pickup and five more days to pack but I'm out of boxes now. :laughtwo:

One more step closer to the goal.

So... baby with the bathwater ehh.... well, at this point in history, the baby has been in the bathwater for way too long and may need to be tossed as well. For that matter, the baby seems to have grown into a very messy and ugly adult.
Just a side tip for those wanting phone service options... consider a free google phone number. Sure... you gotta speak thru a 'puter of some sort, but it is free and it does do text. Of course, that one of those things provided by that damn baby.....

The Auto Jack Herer looked ready for some training too. The Med GOM 1.0 needs another day.

This is starting to get easier already. :battingeyelashes:

It usually is, at least according to every one of my exes. :)

I haven't decided if I'm going to top my next Dark Devil, but I've no regrets about topping the current one. She's turned out pretty good to my eye.

I've wide enough shoulders to take the burden of blame. Lay it on me baby!

 :hugs:

It's addictive, right? Once ya get the first one out of the way you start looking for the next victim! :high-five:

If your Jack is anything like mine, you're gonna love her. So strong she makes me go "grrrr!" at her with a fake bodybuilding pose.

I pretty much read this as ... There are epigentic effects measurable by DNA methylation which are normally transcribed during replicaton. The are known mechanisms for demethylation to uccur during DNA replication. And there is observed but not understood DNA methylation and demethylation occuring outside a replication cycle.
