The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Ya, you got such a sweet light there woman,...i'm envious of it. Do ya know BM makes an even higher end one than the GOD?
With adding different sources of light in Bloom,...you get two main advantages.....more light covering them from different angles and different spectroms....so you will get bigger and better developed colas and secondaries. Not to mention , a more diverse cannabinoid profile from the different light sources. I remember watching a vid on the tube about 8-9 yrs. ago with Mark,...the "Bubbleman" in Jamaica with sets of his hash bags , running locally grown buds thru them and commenting on the color and terpine profile when plants get a lot of UV and intense sunlight! The resin inside the gland heads was red and made me drool! they had to carry buckets of ice thru the hot bush to a secret location and he used a set of his 20 gal. bags and they ran pounds of it thru those big bags ,...stirring it by hand ,...wow,...should have saw the globs of red resin from the Jamaican Sativas, grown in full mountain sun!:high-five:

Be still my beating heart! Good Lord, what an enticing story. If you ever find that video again I'd appreciate a heads up.

Whoa! Jamaica you say?

Heya sue,, nice to be here agin, as it always is,

Just a comfirmatory note as to your pest control methods, a variable plan of attack is key, no matter the toxicity of the weapons. My very recent discussions with the experts down at the local hydro store confirmed this thinking. Mites, Spider especially, can be incredibly difficult to eradicate, iffin not impossible, and your ideas that comming at them with differing firepower is key,, the buggers are extremely adept at building up tolerances to distasteful things, so one must continually throw alternatives at them.

I am not so organic as you, I have three different chemicals I use, alternating after using one two times in a row, four or five days apart,,

And, of course, persistence is just as key,, just cuz one does not see them, does not mean they are not there, they are small after all, little buggers

Cheers sue, peaceful coexistance is key as well,, so many keys and i keep losing mine,, sheesh

Thank you so much for the support nivek. :hugs:  All it takes is one missed egg, and once they've moved in the Borg are adaptable. They intend to be long-term tenants. Lol!

mini update: carnival #2, canopy control

On a whim I stuck my head in for a quick visit. Typically I stay out of her hair most days, but it's her first official day in bloom. :battingeyelashes:

Hmmmm..... :hmmm: I see room for improvement.

image18506.jpeg

The great benefit of the Velcro tiedowns is the ability to manipulate the branches up or down with such ease. After playing around I had them all just below the tallest one growing out of the center.

image18507.jpeg

This one here. Let's slow her down.

image18508.jpeg

There ya go. :battingeyelashes: My next step to slow her down'll be to attach her own restraint.

image18509.jpeg

Now the rest of the late starters get a chance to catch up. Tomorrow I'll do the same with the one on the left.

image18510.jpeg

:blunt:

image18511.jpeg

Wasn't that fun? *giggle* It sure was for me. Lol! :slide:

Time for a couple hoots.

I see 20 potential colas in there. :yahoo:

The overhead view highlights her wide stance , very impressive growth pattern . Have you got some EWC ready to topdress Sue. That together with the ReCharge will be the next significant thing you do . Have a great night and chat at ya later! cheers gang...hope ya's all are havin a great weekend!:circle-of-love:

Yes Duggan, I have it all ready to go. I'm planning for day 14 of the flip, unless you recommend otherwise.

They don't have a curtesy emoticon yet, so use your imagination.

Thank you kind sir. :battingeyelashes:

.....and after. Pretty drastic, I know, but necessary to get things under control.

:bigblush: *Runs for a towel to cover this naked lady up!* Seriously, Sue, leave the girl her dignity!

My Velcro ties came but I think I need to go back and read your previous explanation to me. For some reason I thought the Velcro part went around the plant and the wire attached to the pot somehow, but it looks like in your picture the velcro is on the pot. That does make more sense, but does it really stick that well to the pot or am I seeing things wrong?

BTW Carnival is as lovely as ever. I agree with Duggan, let's keep this lady fully clothed! :laughtwo:

So I have a question. Is there currently a deficiency of some sort here? I am watching so many of DBHBB but your plants just don't have that sheen I usually see. Color is good on old and new leaves. Structure of canopy is nice and you are rocking that. All is good except I don't see any shine.

Is it kinda dull because lack of a recent foliar or too soon since the last. You know I know nothing about this. Just wondering what your thoughts are there.

:laughtwo: I'm interested in seeing how long it takes her to recover, or if she'll even try, this close to the end.

They stick to the fabric pots like a dream. You'll be so glad you got them.

Jeeez we are hunting bugs too..they never end. The Diaspo (just made a knot on my tounge saying the word) waaiiit I got it...
diatomaceous earth (thank God for copy paste) will arrive Friday :(((((
Killing them with my red pepper /garlic spray but it doesn't seem to kill the eggs.
Also, Sue did you use a coco pellet in there for seedlings? One from an open bag (opened a while back) or a re used one?
I have a hunch about my coco pellets being the star of bug party...

I'll have to take a close look at her in the morning Jim. A lot of it may be the lighting. I'm taking these pictures through the lense of my Method 7 glasses. Thinking about it, mine never have had that extreme sheen I see in some of the other grows. I have no idea why. There is foliar residue on the leaves, which may account for part of it. The plants get to harvest with good leaves and frosty buds, so I don't think about it.

Maybe Duggan has some thoughts on this.

Daily Update: Dark Devil Auto 4 and the Clones

Good evening everyone. Time to check in on the last group from the tiny closet and immediate vicinity.

image18513.jpeg

The clones appear to be happy with their fate.

image18517.jpeg

On to DDA4. The very first thing I did was to give her a 1/4 turn and make sure she was centered under the light. I haven't been as good about that as I could have been, but I'll add some side lighting somewhere and make up for it. :cheesygrinsmiley: This girl is heavy, let me tell you. I'm one strong old woman. :blunt:

image18518.jpeg

Damn! She's a big one, isn't she? Next time I grow a DDA under this light I'll make sure I secure her more horizontally and try to fill more space side to side to open those leaves up. As it is I'm gonna get in there tomorrow and try to be ruthless. I'd like to see sun-dappled soil. That'd assure me that the inner buds are getting sufficient light. Sidelighting will help with that too.

image18522.jpeg

Took a few moments and cleaned up her undercarriage.

image18523.jpeg

She's a happy plant. I added a neem meal top dressing and gave all the LOS pots a sprouted corn drench tonight with the leftover aloe water from yesterday's clone potting session. I find the fresh aloe so much more satisfying to work with, sloppy though it may be. I'm giving thought to increasing the production of aloe. I might rig up a space in the bathroom on the metal shelves I used to use in the 4x4.

I've been resisting doing anything with that because I know if I hang any lights in there all bets are off, and I can see myself buying panda film and fashioning a makeshift veg tent. :laughtwo: The relentless drive to expand, eh? Lol!

image18524.jpeg

Whew! That was a busy day. I loved every minute of it. Lol! There I was, at 8:00 in the evening, carrying in the drench for the DDA4 that I'd forgotten I had to get made, my daughter doing her Callanetics session in the opposite corner of my living room, when I realized how blissfully happy I am. :battingeyelashes:

It was a delight to have another opportunity this evening to share a little more joy with you all. I'll be seeing you around the yards after my own Callanetics session. That trophy wife body takes commitment. :laughtwo:

:ciao:

Evening Sue and Jim, with that "sheen" your refering to. It's a lot to do with strain, some to do with proper lighting and of course the health of the soil. The best way to use the 'kit' is to grow a few runs with it to get a feel for how it works. My plants don't always show a sheen ...sometimes they just grow like a weed!:)

Thanks for that clarification Duggan. This is only my second Carnival, and all I can say at this point is she has the energy and structure of a healthy plant. Good, strong branches. I'm sure I'll need to support them at some point anyway. I was in there before lights out thinking about possibilities. I'm suddenly appreciating those frameworks Jay worked up for arteekay, although that wouldn't work in this tent. I'd never be able to get it out the door for anything. Although........

If it were something I could assemble quickly, at the stage when they're so overloaded with bud that the branches begin bending over, I could commit to keeping her right where she was from then on. Not a bad idea, that. It deserves further consideration.

Mmmmmm...... The apartment smells of neem. When I started using neem I found the smell overpowering. That's no longer the case. I find it pleasing, like the smell of health. Interesting.

I'm off looking for ways to learn to coexist with mites.

Sue, in my opinion, mites and humankind cannot coexist peacefully. They are creatures from hell and should be treated accordingly.

“I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.”
- George Bush - former president of the USA.

Perhaps George was right. I actually really kind of doubt it, and I strongly suspect the fish are beginning to doubt it too. But at least fish don't seem to be making any blatant attempts at mass rebellion, and last I checked there were no fish slithering around in my grow trying to eat my plants. So I'll give Dubya the benefit of the doubt for now, barring any major fish uprisings.
But if he had made this statement about spider mites -I would have been forced to think he was kind of an idiot, president of the USA or not.

They are looking good:) I love the aloe Vera in there.
You know aloe is a super good remedy too right..so make her go BIG :)
And yes, I will add her in our thread about home remedies :circle-of-love:
Summer time you can put the aloe on the balcony, she doesn't care. Let her dry out completely I mean BIG dry out. Too much water will make her go soggy and die.
(Sorry for rambling, I love the plant)
