The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

I'm confused. If you only remove the affected leaves then won't you constantly and forever be removing leaves? A lot of leaves? I mean, they'll still lay eggs in other places right? Or what if the plant's a baby with only a couple leaves to begin with?

I'm concerned. Do you by chance have a Plan B? ...Just in case?

:circle-of-love:

Deep breath Fuzz. :hugs: With small plants it's easier to get at the individual leaves with a swab or a spray, though I've done both with each and every leaf more than once. The trick is to catch them early and hope they haven't exploded eggs all over the other leaves. I think they might be a little territorial, laying eggs on the leaf they're mining. So if you can notice those first signs you can snag them before they wander off onto another leaf.

From now on, as soon as I see spots the leaf goes.

I decided to get in there and hit the clones and the DDA3 with a good drench of SNS 217. I have nothing to lose and possibly everything to gain.

Okay, okay. So you're still willing to use sprays and kill them on the young ones. That makes sense. I don't think I could coexist with the bugs though. I'd be going in with a bottle of mite killer in each hand wild west showdown style. *Says in her best western voice* "Never fear little ladies, I got ya covered." :laughtwo:

Cloning: Round Two

Time to pick out the winners and get them into the bags.

This time I decided to play up the aloe. The cuttings were sitting in a glass of aloe water and I cut a filet to slip the prepared cuttings through before dipping them in the rooting hormone.

I'll check on them in three days.

:laughtwo: Waiting for another harvest arteekay. Just temporary limbo. Lol!

Ouch, I'm sorry. Didn't realize I was picking a scab. :)

There looks to be some solid nugs in your near future though, I'll look forward to an upcoming "after" shot.

:cheertwo:

OOOOh cool beans on alla the gifts. Beautiful job on the training and grooming :hugs:SweetSue:hugs:. She will be a stunner that's for sure. Oh yeah what is it with all of these inadvertent toe and foot shots ? I noticed all the coolest of the gang do it.

For some of us, it's just the easiest way to know when it's time to do a quick cropping of the pics, before finding the toenail clippers again.

Top of the mornin to ya Susan! have you flipped the "star" yet? just a note ...during the next week to two weeks, they will begin their stretch...stay right on top of any runaway leaders OK,...this is the most important time to keep things even. It will be a challenge when they start to "go". wait until a leader gets about 2 inches ahead of the rest...then pinch it a lil, just enough to slow it down for a day OK. If you let any of them get away you will have to SC further down , and we DON'T wanna do that OK. We wanna make our lil SC pinches a "low stress" thing ...just to slow those leaders down for a day or two. You are doing wonderfully with her , and i have to add, it sure is cool to see you have a decent sized plant to play with. If she were mine i would be shooting for about 6-8z's...so lets make that our goal...1/2 pound of smiles! sound good? Cheers SS!:Namaste::circle-of-love:

Go ahead Duggan - jump start my day with the suggestion that she'll come in at close to half a pound. :yahoo: She certainly has the energy for it.

Here she is today.

Some interesting candidates to fill up the center. Let's go guys. :battingeyelashes:

It makes me feel soooo happy to look in on her. :battingeyelashes:

I'm making ShiggityFlip's bullet coffee this morning. I treated myself to some coffee beans while I was shopping with the daughter yesterday. The apartment smells absolutely divine. :circle-of-love: What a joyful follow up to my inspiring river walk. Get out there people. Make your day sparkle with the love you have to share. Try to have a day devoid of negative energy. I know you can do it. :hugs:

The coffee timer just went off. Later guys :ciao:

Yes,...i believe this is the perfect time to put her in Bloom, she will fill out very nicely , and fill your tent. Our goal , remains the same...fill your space, ideally she should be square at the end...corner to corner colas, ALL, i repeat , ALL looking the same! Being fairly even across the top,...Sue , this is NOT easy to do, you will soon find out, just how challenging it will be. Mention it to Noob,..he will agree, or to Gray , although his girls were considerably smaller and easier to manage. You should have 20 or more good sized colas at the end. Gotta enough light to "bamb" her! She will benefit from any extra light you could throw at her. maybe a lil ufo or long skinny one....just wonderin, is all, for later when she's asking for it! Have an awesome day....playin with my "Twisty Pipe".:smokin2:

In my wanderings today I stumbled onto the most disturbing story. Were you aware that the dispensaries in Montana closed in early September because five years ago they passed a law limiting medical cannabis providers to three patients? All court cases have been fought and lost, which closed the shops and left everyone in limbo. They have the right to grow their own, but we all know not everyone's capable of doing so. They have an initiative on the ballot for November, and if they can garner all of the medical cannabis patients and their supporters they can make this situation change for the better. Let's send them as much encouragement as we can muster.

If this is going to be the wave of the future we're going to have to step up as individuals and see to it that we start training our family and friends in the finer points of cultivation, processing and administration of cannabis, and make ourselves available to assist some of those who can't accommodate a grow on their own.

Buckle up babies. It's gonna be a wicked ride for the next few years.

PEST CONTROL: MITES IN THE AUTO TENT

I'm off looking for ways to learn to coexist with mites. Step one appears to be reduce the numbers. I've already begun that process. It's a shame I have to take so many of her leaves, but, I'd rather do this and give her a chance to get stronger, even considering she only has a couple more weeks to go.

So today I took her out onto the balcony to see what I could do to get ahead of them.

image18471.jpeg

Here she is before......

image18468.jpeg

.....and after. Pretty drastic, I know, but necessary to get things under control.

image18473.jpeg

I ended up with some tiny pieces to dry. :cheesygrinsmiley:

image18480.jpeg

All visibly-infested leaves were removed and securely bagged.

image18481.jpeg

image18482.jpeg

Part of what I learned today is the need for a broad range of methods. Switch the attack plan often to keep the bugs from becoming resistant. Also, I believe my best approach may be to do something to them every three days until I'm convinced the mites are firmly under control. This is called Intergrated Pest Management (IPM), something I'm very good at talking up and so far lacking in walking the walk. "Integrated" implies you keep at it from many directions, from the beginning of the grow through to the harvest. I'm certain I can improve my approach.

When I put her back in the tent she got a top dressing of neem meal.

image18472.jpeg

Then I pulled out the DDA2 to check her. No signs of mites on her, which makes sense. She's got almost no chlorophyll to mine, so no mites would be drawn to her.

image18483.jpeg

image18484.jpeg

Damn!! Whatever frustration I felt running this hempy experiment, we have to admit, the color expression on this plant is superior to any others of the many I've grown over the past two years.

image18488.jpeg

image18489.jpeg

Time for the Early Miss. I noticed a few potentially infested leaves and removed them. That was enough to persuade me to give her a once over too.

image18493.jpeg

image18494.jpeg

image18495.jpeg

Sprayed her down real well with SNS 217 and gave her a top dress of neem meal.

image18496.jpeg

Everyone's back in place, the Early Miss and the clones rotated under the lights.

image18497.jpeg

image18498.jpeg

Ok, I feel better about this now. I'm so glad you guys put up with me. :laughtwo: I have to find peace here. Aggression and frustration are distractions to the joy I intend to flow freely through my life. Bit by bit I'm catching on. Thanks for hanging in there with me. :circle-of-love:

I have some CFLs I can call into action when she's done stretching. I should be able to come at her with surround lighting with some creative thought. I feel confident that the Budmaster GOD will be more than enough without, but we're going for maximum potential here.

This is sooooo much fun. :laughtwo: :slide:

Enjoy your new toy. :hugs:

Sue,...can you keep those little fu%^&*ers away from OUR "star"???
:cheertwo::thankyou:

sent from my DeLorean...in the future! :ganjamon::party:

:reading420magazine:

Quite frankly Duggan, the Carnival's growing in a soil that should make her resistant to them. She's isolated from them and I'm careful not to go from them to her. I tend to her first thing in the morning, so there's little chance of transfer. I'm also checking closely every morning for any signs of infestation. So far, all clear.

Ya, you got such a sweet light there woman,...i'm envious of it. Do ya know BM makes an even higher end one than the GOD?
With adding different sources of light in Bloom,...you get two main advantages.....more light covering them from different angles and different spectroms....so you will get bigger and better developed colas and secondaries. Not to mention , a more diverse cannabinoid profile from the different light sources. I remember watching a vid on the tube about 8-9 yrs. ago with Mark,...the "Bubbleman" in Jamaica with sets of his hash bags , running locally grown buds thru them and commenting on the color and terpine profile when plants get a lot of UV and intense sunlight! The resin inside the gland heads was red and made me drool! they had to carry buckets of ice thru the hot bush to a secret location and he used a set of his 20 gal. bags and they ran pounds of it thru those big bags ,...stirring it by hand ,...wow,...should have saw the globs of red resin from the Jamaican Sativas, grown in full mountain sun!:high-five:
