The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

That Carnival canopy looks amazing. You're leveling that like a boss!

:welldone:

Why thank you Fuzz. I really appreciate that. I don't think I'll ever tire of hearing it. :laughtwo: Know what's doing it? Those Velcro tiedown arteekay and I use to control the individual branches. I'm pretty sure I learned it from him, but he believes we discovered them about the same time and worked up our own versions. I had prefabricated Velcro straps I always have on hand. He had a strip of Velcro that he cuts to size and pierces to insert the soft tie pieces. This is one of mine.

image18263.jpeg

It takes less than a minute to make the minute adjustments to each individual branch. I start out training with stakes until I get the plant to fill the pot and the branches to reach the outer edges, and then I switch off to the tiedowns. This is the Early Miss being trained.

image18250.jpeg

This branch will be switched out within the next couple days.

image18251.jpeg

The stakes make it easier for me to keep them close to the surface without damaging any growing or flowering areas.

image18250.jpeg

They also hold so firmly that it's easy to keep the apical leader, the strongest part of my plants, down below the others.

image18262.jpeg

Carnival's far enough along that it takes less than a minute to get it level. So I can keep her level all the way through harvest, no matter how she chooses to grow. :battingeyelashes:

:ciao:
Hope you have a great Monday.
:hugs::Love::hugs:

It's been an especially wonderful day, thank you Mr Am4zin. I'm sure yours was delightful. It's a satisfying feeling to get such a banner harvest hanging, isn't it? Well done on that flux. :bravo: That was one of the most exciting journals running this cycle. When she went verticle........... Thank you for that one.

:hugs::Love::hugs:

:hugs::hugs::geek::drool:I can hardly wait ta get my paws on some more mb :)
Have a great day after that im kinda sure you will :)You got some sweet greens Sue Love ya from me an the P :) :)

Sending loving energy back at you and P Jaga. So nice to have you stop. You're probably asleep by now, so have a wonderful tomorrow. :battingeyelashes:

Hey Sue,...just gettin settled from the day out with Mare, finishing that electrical job at my sis's place out of town (45 min. drive).
When you fill up the pot a lil with new soil,...make sure to leave room for EWC and ReCharge . Your gonna need a good 1/2 - 1 inch of that soon , couple weeks. Just sayin OK!. Your main stalk is growing nice and fat already , is a very good indicator of a strong , well developed root system! Nice job with that Sue. Have an awesome night and have fun opening your "box" . yeepa!:cheertwo::Namaste:

Thank you Duggan. She's a fun one to play with. Never complains. I didn't get the drench done and only got halfway through the additional soil. A friend called to invite me for a walk along the river just as I was getting to the chore, so I grabbed the chance to get out on this glorious fall day. What a good choice that was. Fabulous weather, lovely scenery, great company......... I'll get her finished in the morning.

The soil I'm adding is around the outside, filling up the gap that invariably opens up after everything settles. I know she'll appreciate the addition of root space. I'm adding almost an inch all the way around, top to bottom. I'll only be leveling the soil line on top. That'll leave lots of room for the Recharge.

I'm sure that box is from Doc. I'll be down there first thing in the morning so I can get the amendment added to the soil bins. I'll have clones to repot in about a month.

Have a great evening Duggan and drive carefully. :battingeyelashes:

Thanks for the great info! I have the stakes and the soft ties. I like the velcro idea though and have a couple questions: Are those Velcro straps 8" by 1/2" wide? If not, would that size work? Oh wait, they also sell 8" by 1/4" and 6" x 1/2". Oh my. What size do you think is best?

:thanks:

Daily Update: Autos, Monday, October 10, 2016

Good evening everyone. Time for a look see at the autos. Starting off in the tent. I'm liking what I'm seeing here. :laughtwo:

image18245.jpeg

image18264.jpeg

Early Miss (Day 27)

image18247.jpeg

She's about ready to go verticle.

image18249.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto 2 (Day 58) There's been a noticeable change in her pistils since this picture was taken this morning. They're rapidly changing. I'm watching for the wash of cloudy trichomes with these. As soon as I see that happening she comes down the next day. I have to stop beating myself up for doing that to her leaves. I'm gonna get at least an ounce out of this girl. She's getting very close now and starting to foxtail. :cheesygrinsmiley:

image18253.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto 3 (Day 48) Look at this one go. I noticed a few minutes ago that her central blossoms are just about done, so she may be a partial harvest. It also may be a reaction to yesterday's spray. I'm getting ready to give them an aloe and coconut water drench, which may revive her over the next couple days.

image18254.jpeg

Yeah....... Check this branch out. This one'll got the entire 65 days. :slide:

image18255.jpeg

The clones. They get checked tomorrow. The potted ones are at Day 3 now and looking really good.

image18258.jpeg

#1 Starting to reach for the sky. :woohoo: Graytail informs me that when they lift the fans it's a sign that they've grabbed the soil.

image18256.jpeg

#2 She's obviously very happy.

image18257.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto 4 (Day 48) I believe she's stopped her vertical growth. Now she'll focus on building the blossoms. Here we go. :blunt:

image18259.jpeg

image18260.jpeg

image18261.jpeg

That's the brood today. I have a drench to get done, so let me get at that. I'll be seeing you around the yards later on. Thanks for stopping by. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Yes, you should of course. I'm very proud and impressed by it. When I consider all the factors (first hydro experience, small pot, auto, nutrient challenges) I'm actually damn proud of what you did.

Here's just one little temptation for you to ponder.....
When you consider the small footprint and respectable output, and further consider that your experience with further plants in a hempy world would only increase your output, would you produce more using smaller plants in your area than the larger containers and plant sizes?

Oh look... Pastor Tead had to do a touch more preaching. Damn religious fanatics!

Sorry Fuzz, missed this yesterday. :hugs:

I'd go with the 1/2" x 8". I have some that I made that are shorter, but I'm not as satisfied with them.

And :woohoo: on the new DDA soon to make an appearance in your own space. :yahoo:

The thought has definately crossed my mind Tead, but I have experience with the taster pot production I ran with Ziggy's inspiration, using kit soil and azalea pots. This experience reminded me of how satisfying those pots were. This space is so limited, but there are tiny spaces here and there that could accommodate both a hempy - which appears to have produced more than my azalea pots ever did, to be honest - or an azalea pot.

So yeah Tead, I'm still flirting with another try. It's such a small footprint. I'm gonna take a test bud for drying this morning. It should be ready to taste before harvest, so I'll have some sense of the potency and taste. I can tell you she smells just right.

Daily Update: Carnival, Day 77

She's out for her GE drench today. I pulled her out of the tent during her hour of light after midnight and filled in the pot around the edges. Got at least another two gallons of soil in there.

image18277.jpeg

I count 13 good tops at canopy level now with about three or four interesting candidates to fill out the center. Let's see how she looks by the weekend. I'm thinking that since she's getting this drench and we want to flip her on a day when she gets a TransWater, we have another ten days or so to play before we have to make the call. She has two of the TransWaters scheduled next. Agreed Duggan? I'm in no rush with her. We can veg her a bit longer if need be.

Well it's quite an honor to be a part of page 555! My favorite #! I'll be buzzing around this one now that heirloom has vacated the mag. I really will miss the knowledge there but, I'm sure I'll find plenty here. Bringing peace and love.

Welcome to my joyful journal Bumble, and how serendipitous that you landed on your favorite number. :laughtwo: It's a sign you were meant to be here. I'm saddened about losing Heirloom too. I had soft spot for the boy. Our birthdays are days apart and I was looking forward to showering him with affection for his.

I'll never adapt to the way people walk away so abruptly with no explaination, but then I did that in my personal life when my husband died last year, so I'm careful about passing judgement. I wish him the best and hope for an eventual return. We've been down this road before. Heirloom was a fount of valuable info on gardening success and using living organic soils that we'll miss dreadfully. His personality can't be replaced. I'll miss him.

Yep, I was right. Time to get some soil amended. :battingeyelashes:

image18279.jpeg

Yep, Ditto on Heir. One can only wish the best! And, I'm sitting on my DBHBB til almost Feb. so I'll be watching your soil process closely. Have a blessed day.

How timely of you Bumble. I just got the pictures loaded into the gallery.

Playing in the dirt: Preparing for the next run

I purchased the economy bundle of Amendment, which is four times the regular size. That's enough for 24 seven gallon pots.

image18284.jpeg

image18285.jpeg

I forgot to add amendment to my first run soil that I used for my Carnivals, so I added an appropriate amount to the larger bin that I'd been working out of, added some water and mixed it up.

Then an I went to work on the bin with the soil left from Carnival #1. I added the amendment, tossed in a few cups of EWC, topped it all off with a gallon of water and started mixing. I mixed that water in, added another 2/3 gallon and kept working it. When I'm mixing this soil I'm looking for dry patches, so it's plunge to the bottom, bounce up to the top and break it down with the hands. Keep repeating until you don't find any dry patches at all. It took me about thirty minutes of playing to get this bin done to my satisfaction.

image18286.jpeg

image18287.jpeg

I top it all off with the handful of leaves I took off Carnival #2 this morning, dusted with a sprinkling of Roots! and splashed with a tad bit more water. I'll check in a couple days to see how the digestion of these leaves are goin, my clue that the soil's developing a community of helpful soil bots.

image18288.jpeg

The only reason we call this my bedroom is I sleep on the bed most nights. :laughtwo:

image18289.jpeg

I feel so much better getting this chore behind me. In another month I'm gonna need some of this soil.

The Great Clone Adventure Continues :yahoo:

I have another one to pot up. :woohoo:

image18283.jpeg

I just realized I added amendment to the soil I'd be using to pot up the other three when they're rooted. I suppose that means they'll start their lives in LOS. I might pick one out and run it all the way through in LOS. I'm feeling pretty good about this guys. I have an over-abundance of Carnival. Lol! :slide:

Don't need to time the flip with anything Sue...we'le just flip her when WE are ready regardless of what she gets from the "kit" next OK!
Lets just keep that canopy nice and even ....I would say to flip her within the next ten days sometime....it's up to you ! She has enough maturity , so anytime is good ...but size is good too!:thumb:

Daily Update: Tuesday, October 11, 2016

Good afternoon everyone. Let's take a gander at the girls, why not?

Maintenance notes:
-Carnival #2 got her scheduled Growth Energy drench.
- The autos all got a coconut/aloe drench late last night around 12:30 AM.
- One more clone got potted up.

Thats it. On to the garden.

Right before I took Carnival back to her tent she got herself a little reflected sunlight and was looking all beautiful and whatnot, even if she was a little droopy from the drench.

I took this picture just a few minutes ago, a couple hours after she went back under the lights. I think she's happy. :battingeyelashes:

Into the auto tent. Looking right tasty in here today.

image18294.jpeg

That heavy-duty spray the other day did a number on her pistils, but there already new ones getting ready to pop out, so I'm not really concerned. She's got just about two weeks to go until the breeder's projected harvest date of 65 days.

*BIG sigh of relief* :laughtwo: OK, I'll claim that as my miracle today. I expect one every day, you know. It's a practice I heartily endorse. The wonderful things that keep finding their way into my life.......

Thanks for stopping to gaze in wonder with me. :battingeyelashes: They're worth every moment of my time and every penny I spend on this obsessive hobby that's changing lives all around me. Gardening is made all the more pleasurable at having you here to join the fun.

I'm late for a Callanetics session with the daughter. Gotta run. I'll catch up with you later. :ciao:
