The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

If you tie down the lower branches of an auto into solo cups half-buried in the mother plant's pot, like I did (see page 50 of my journal post #747) you should be able to get clones off an auto without disturbing the apex bud. I started using the soil-layering method of propagating, because I don't' have much success with clones except in the spring.

Thank you AK for sharing that! My next run of autos I will give that a shot.

Sue: There is ALWAYS room for a 4x4. Just creatively store some furniture. Maybe in one of your closets (stack it high), and relocate the ladies to the 4x4.

I just got through relocating my juveniles to the shelving (2' x 4") and leaving the 3 big plants in the 3x3, so they have room to spread out. Momma BBL has 3 chicks to raise (page 50 post #747 in my journal) and the Autos.... well judging by the size of the fan leaves, they are going to need lots room!

As for relocating to a legal state, a couple of our fellow growers, WC and Major Pita, to name just 2, grow outdoors almost year around, but also indoors or in a green house or basement. You need more SPACE, Lady! West coast is good: Oregon for year-round outdoors.

Very cool. Thank you for the detailed explanation. I look forward to seeing how this works for you. When I used Rapid Rooters for cloning, I used to put them in small yogurt cups w/ holes and surround them with perlite to help keep the Rapid Rooters moist. For the life of me I can't remember how I kept them humid though. I think I put them under a humidity dome but *shrug* I don't know. That details seems to have been erased from my memory. It might reappear later. :blalol:

I like that idea of the perlite, and I could cut down solo cups for the containers. I'll figure out a system that works for me in time.

They also benefit from the CO2 which you use to expand the plastic bag.

image17694.jpeg

Didn't even think of that Jim. Thanks. :high-five:

I thought the concern with cloning autos was the limited timeline. How much success have you had with yield with cloned autos?

:bravo:
Wow that Dark Devil is absolutely stunning! Such radiant colour!

Your garden is filled with such happeness and health. It's obvious the amount of time and dedication you afford to your garden. Keep it up, Love!

Always rooting for you over here and thinkin of you often!

:Love::hugs::Love:

Thank you so much dear. :hugs:  I enjoyed you short time-lapse video and look forward to longer versions in the future. You might want to pick a regular day every month dedicated to the time-lapse project.

It's not a matter of room, so much as a mother doing her best to accommodate her daughter's anxiety without giving up the "hobby" altogether. This enterprise left hobby status a long time ago. :laughtwo:

Oregon looks like a nice place to check out. The west coast calls. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Daily Update: Carnival#2, Day 61

I thought it'd be nice for Duggan if I started separating out the Carnival for its own daily update.

image17697.jpeg

Yeah, I see that spike. Outdoor temps are falling. These days of high temps should be behind us now.

image17705.jpeg

I moved the restraints out another node and that brought the branches down just a smidge more. I also did a minor trim to get at some of the hidden sites.

image17698.jpeg

Right now the canopy sits at 32" from the light.

image17699.jpeg

Duggan, I have this pot of soil. We should consider it second run that I neglected to add the amendment to. What do you suggest I do with it? I'm putting it into its own bin. What should I add to it to prep for the third run?

image17700.jpeg

Thanks for the help Duggan. :hugs:

Maybe call it 2.25 soil? It really hasnt been used to its potential...the leaves and maybe a couple worms and call it a wrap? Or are worms verbotten in HB soil??

Cannot wait to see what Duggan says.
Pretty sure he had to cut his third run with new promix. I was thinking it had too much root and leaves into.
But I cannot for anything remembered now.
I am liking Duggan's Lilly, doing swimmingly.

About the Carnival, no sweat SS. I have to keep my grow behind the couch. So I understand the concept of keeping someone happy with a smaller grow, like me wife or your daughter in our cases, Cheers.

Daily Update: Autos, Monday, September 25, 2016

Let's see what the girls are up to, shall we? Follow me. :battingeyelashes: All of the autos got a thorough spraying with spinosad today. Taking no chances anymore.

Early Miss (Day 13) I may top her tomorrow. She's still pretty tight, but that can quickly change.

image17706.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto 2 (Day 44) She's taken on that Berry/fuel scent they're known for. Intoxicating!!! it's time to switch up the nite level into something more geared to flowering, which necessitated flushing her reservoir with PH-corrected water.

image17707.jpeg

I took her into the bathroom for that chore and took some nice pictures while I was there.

Not bad for a plant I can probably take another month.

image17714.jpeg

Around the corner and into the tiny closet to check up on Dark Devil Auto 4. (Day 34) What a beautiful specimen she's growing into. I leveled her canopy out a bit and left her to her own devices.

Soon she'll be filled with softball-sized buds, if I make my guess. That looks like where she's headed. If so, it'll make the second DDA grown under this light to go big. That would excite me. :laughtwo:

That's all for for me at the moment. I'm going to rustle up some snacks. Serious munchies going on. I love the spiritual buzz from Tikal (I'm finishing up the last of mine today) but it gives me munchies like nothing going. That surprises me, but there it is anyway.

I'll be seeing you around the digital streets. Graytail, I miss your Monday night updates. :kisstwo:

:Namaste:

Sueeee...happy Tuesday friend! All those girls are lookin very nice! Im kinda crushin on that DDA2 though! :volcano-smiley:huuggsss

It got pulled early the last time too. This is an odd mix of soil, to be sure. Worms and HB soil aren't compatable indoors, because of the way we push the limits. It's always frustrated Doc that I'm so enamored with my worms. Haha! I can understand that. We're trying to grow medicine in these pots, not wildlife. It took me a couple years to catch up with that.

I'll have to be a more attentive cultivator with this batch of soil and let the plants tell me what they need.

Cannot wait to see what Duggan says.

ProMix is something I need to pick up, although I do have half a bale of plain sphagnum peat moss, perlite and Promix myco on hand (got some with the MOTY gift pack) so with a little guidance I should be able to make my own mix.

Always good to see you Sara. It's satisfying to see my plants bouncing back under your company's lights. :circle-of-love:

She's really responding to better lighting, isn't she? I'm so relieved. There's only one Dark Devil Auto seed left in my seed bank, and I had hopes of building the stocks up before Jamaica. I need to be able to focus on some quick CBD strains when I get back up and running after my vacation in paradise.

She smells divine Scottay. I wish they'd invent smell-a-vision. :laughtwo:

Good morning everyone!

Nine, count 'em, nine straight hours of sleep last night. Shocked the hell outta me. :laughtwo: Apparently my PCP knew what he was talking about. Hahaha! It's been almost a year since he told me that eventually I'd return to normal sleep patterns. One solid night does not a pattern make, but it gives me hope. I'd begun to wonder if my body'd forgotten how to get a good night's sleep.

Ahhhhh.......... A little hydro therapy is called for to awaken the sleepy cells. I'll catch up later.

Good morning Duggan. :hugs:

Carnival #2 (Day 63)

image17733.jpeg

This is obviously a drought-resistant pheno, taking a long break in between drenches. She still has quite a bit of weight in the pot. I have no problem with the timelines. If she's not down before the trip so be it. My daughter will be watching over her in that event. We're going to coax this one into a candidate for POTM. Not sayin' she'll win, since it'll be only my second entry, but I think I see great potential here.

I await your input and your thoughts on the soil. It's all busted up and in its tote. I need to add water today and the rest of whatever it needs to get ready for the next plant, which won't be until January, when I start the clone that'll replace this plant.

What a beautiful day.

Sue,
I love what you are doing with the Carnival. Masterful training. She is gonna be a biggun.
When is flip? Or in my stoner haze did I miss that?
Beautiful. .

Good morning my inspiration. :hugs:  Flip hasn't been scheduled yet, though Duggan feels, as do I, that we're looking at another two week, minimum. I want that canopy as full as I can reasonably expect. I've been here two years now, grief stages notwithstanding. It's time to show that I've been soaking up all this knowledge I keep promoting. I'm feeling pretty confident in my ability to keep her under control. These little tiedowns arteekay and I came up with are a great aide for this type of training.

Duggan claims he can teach me to supercrop, but I'm not so confident about that. I keep trying, but I can't seem to get the hang of getting them soft enough to crush. I think it's the loving mom factor interfering. :laughtwo: This method is less stressful on me. Hahaha!

Stoner thoughts as I wait for the oatmeal to finish cooking

I take my THC capsule at 10 AM, an hour after the CBD capsule. They compete for some of the same attachment sites and CBD has a reputation for tempering the euphoria of THC, so that spacing seems an appropriate protocol. What I'm noticing, on the days that I'm not already wrapped up in the site or research, is that although the the capsules hit hard within five minutes there's this sweet spot that I'm just now slipping into at around 75-90 minutes in where I get this delicious wash of......... I'd have to peg it at gratitude.

It's like this wave of joyful gratitude washes over my entire being and I know that I'm in balance with the universe. It's notable that I've never experienced this sense with inhalation methods. It's part of the charm of edibles. I just find it fascinating that these capsules hit so hard initially, taking me from zero to around 75 in less than five minutes and then offer the typical edible wash of sweetness at the hour-and-a-half mark as well. Tell me I'm not the lucky one, eh? :laughtwo:

Oatmeal's done. Later. :ciao:

The earthy smell of cannabutter melting in the oatmeal. One of the most delicious things in my world. Mmmmm........

Looks like I am gonna have to try eating my oatmeal and raisins wit canna butter. Good idea Sue. Thx

Daily Update: Tuesday, September 26, 2016

Good afternoon everyone. Let's get this up at a reasonable hour today, why not? Think I'll start with that gorgeous Dark Devil Auto 4 in the tiny closet. She's at Day 35 now. I've restrained her out a little further, trying desperately to not need to raise the light any more, since it'll call for a complete dismantling of the space to do so, and that pot's heavier than hell. One of my considerations in going with Doc's kit for the majority of the grow is the weight of these pots. I have to be able to lift them over that flap, and let me tell you, at 62 sometimes being Callanetics strong doesn't feel like enough to get it done. I know I can haul around an HB pot, fully loaded with water.

image17740.jpeg

She's filled out the pot nicely, don't you think? I'm pleased. :cheesygrinsmiley: It's strange to have one with no purple, but those leaves..... How are you not smitten by those lovely leaves?

image17741.jpeg

image17742.jpeg

image17744.jpeg

Into the auto tent next.

image17737.jpeg

The Early Miss topped herself. Lol! That's what she was doing under that leaf I removed today, expecting to top her this morning. Voilà! I got a two-headed variety. I was just talking with a good friend who was able to start smoking again yesterday and this is the strain he had on hand to break his fast. He slept almost as well as I did last night and tells me he's certain I'll like the Early Miss. In truth, I slept as well as I did knowing he wasn't in pain any longer. I have this incredible attachment to all of you.......

Early Miss (Day 14)

image17735.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto 2 (Day 45) This is the stage where we just sit back and give her time to bulk up. Yum! Lol! I don't think I've ever mentioned what her feeding regimine is. That's because it's been all over the board. I'll spare that this round and try one more plant like this under better control. Suffice to say she got bumped into full-out bloom mix this week. I've been diluting it all along because autos don't like to be over fed, and actually prefer a lighter touch with bottled nutes. Or so I've read. :battingeyelashes:

Looking at her, I don't think I can complain much. She's doing well despite her untrained cultivator.

image17736.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto 3 (Day 35) It makes me smile to know that within two weeks of harvesting DDA2 I'll be taking two more DDAs. :battingeyelashes:  This one looks like she'll put out twice what DDA2 will. There's no telling what #4 will produce. She's a totally new one for me.

I like the the spikey leaves on this one. Maybe that speaks to a more sativa influence? Dare I dream?

image17738.jpeg

When I opened the tent it was reading 88 degrees. I adjusted the fans and closed it back up for 30 minutes while I tended to other matters. This is much better.

A quick peek in on Carnival #2 (Day 63)

image37523.jpg

image37524.jpg

The clones.

image17745.jpeg

I just love having this one on the table. It's starting to droop a bit. It might surprise me and actually root. :laughtwo:

image37525.jpg

I'm a bit more lequatious when I'm not rushed to get it done before the stroke of midnight. :laughtwo: I'll make more effort to get them posted sooner. I'm a retired woman with no real responsibilities though, so no promises. Lol!

May your day bubble with joy. I'm gonna get out there and take a walk somewhere, anywhere. This is a quintessential fall day full of crisp brightness that screams for engagement. Get out there and spread that joy with me today. but first, a little supplemental buzz with the last of my Tikal.

:Namaste:

Looks like I am gonna have to try eating my oatmeal and raisins wit canna butter. Good idea Sue. Thx

That was why I posted the picture Stage. How delightful that someone actually took the bait. :laughtwo:
