AUSTIN, Texas - November 1, 2017 - Compassionate Cultivation is ready to make history in the Lone
Star State by planting one of Texas' first legal cannabis crops.
The medical cannabis company – one of two businesses licensed to grow cannabis that is high in
non-psychoactive cannabidiol (CBD) and low in psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in
Texas – received its state license today and will immediately start cultivating its first crop inside its
vertically integrated Austin facility.

The Texas Compassionate Use Act, signed by Gov. Greg Abbott in 2015, legalized the cultivation of
CBD-rich cannabis–and the sale of an oil derived from that cannabis – to patients suffering from
intractable epilepsy. Compassionate Cultivation won one of the state's licenses to cultivate plants and
extract and retail the cannabis oil earlier this summer.
Pending final approval from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Compassionate Cultivation plans to
start selling its cannabis oil as early as January 2018–after the first batch of plants are harvested and
cured, after the oil is extracted from the plant matter, and after the oil has been tested for purity and
safety.
Compassionate Cultivation has enlisted industry-leading cannabis management consultancy
MJardin–which provides turn-key cultivation and processing services–to operate its grow, thus
completing a team that is as esteemed as it is passionate.
Another essential team member is Compassionate Cultivation chief medical officer Dr. Karen Keough, a
Board Certified Child Neurologist who specializes in treating intractable epilepsy at Child Neurology
Consultants of Austin.
