Tent intake filter?

Complete newbie grower here so I apologize in advance if this question has been asked and answered already. I have a 4' x 4' tent setup in my garage , and am running two 200W Cree COB setups in there for veg and flower. I bought a 4" Inline exhaust fan and a carbon filter and planned on using them inside the tent , then exhuasting to my attic. I was wondering what I should use to filter the intake ducts, as I dont want any little critters or spores entering the tent at all . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've used filters from Home Depot. My filter got plenty clogged up after 3.5 months. Probably best practice to change once a month depending how dusty your attic is.

How important is it to filter intake air? I'm also in a garage and Have not been filtering during my grow .

Edit:
I should add that I have had fungus gnats and some random spiders, but both are gone now.

For me, air intake filters are important and were upgraded since I have cats. Im not sure the best filers for tents, but I bet they have ready made filters.
