Hi , im new to growing and my grow box is too Hot any advice.
first off i made a home made grow box i had 6 13w clf with 2 23w cfl light
and the temp stays in the 80 range and when i shut my lights at night so temp stays in 60 range with humidity & humidity stays 40-50 With 2 fans 1 blowing in and the other blowing out

but now i got 2 23 watt clf light & a 600w hps bulb with a digital ballast. i have just bought it today. but the temp went from 80 to 120.so i put both fans blowing out and one big fan blowing in with a cool mist in front in tempt of cooling it down.. so far temps at 100 with humidity 28.. any advice to bring temp down? .. im thinkin bigger box and more vent.

also the plants are just random seed i found. its just a test run till my seeds arrive. im waiting on some white widow, snow white, & sour kush. i just wanted to get the hang of things b4 they get here lol

leafs staring to drop. and temp is now at 95 with humidity 39

Re: Temp too high ..Advice ?

Get an air-cooled hood such as the Super Sun II or the like. Or a Cool Tube, if you'd prefer. Vent it from outside of the grow box and exhaust it outside of the grow box.

Re: Temp too high ..Advice ?

where could i buy a cool tube or air cool hood ? aslo i mean i dont want to get a whole no light system

would inlinea 188 cfm fan work ?

Re: Temp too high ..Advice ?

Hey smoking you should have a 6"-8" exhaust fan pulling the heat and the air out of that light! More like 400-600cfms since youve got a 600hps burning! Plus that spot looks tiny!hope you dont cook those bitches! Good luck

Re: Temp too high ..Advice ?

I picked up some Polyshield 3/4 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. Foam Insulation Panels from HD. The panels have the hammered reflective finish on one side and cost me $15 per sheet. 5 sheets would be enough to construct a 4' x 4' x 8' grow room. I also picked up a 10' x 25' roll of 4 mil black plastic for $10 for lightproofing and 2 rolls of reflective tape for $5. In total it cost around $100. It also can be dismantled and stored away when you are not using it.... Yeah, like that is going to happen! Good Luck! :thumb:

im just gettin the air cooled hood and a duct fan of 160 cfm

& i remade the box to 6 feet an 3 feet wide . .will we make a new one 6 feet by 6 feet

i got the room to stay at 90 degrees when light on. but still need cooled hood nd duct fan

That bulb burns at 4-600 degrees, it looks like you have it balanced on a cardboard box? Please be more careful, or you will wind up with no weed an no place to live.

Your seedling looks very tall and spindly, do you have an oscillating fan running in there? MH is the spectrum for veg, but some do use HPS for the whole cycle.

If any of that mist gets to your light you are looking at an explosion, I would suggest nixing that. A ultrasonic type humidifier would be better if you need humidity.

my grow room is 4wx5lx7h feet andgot way too hot this summer with 2 600 watt hps. so i cut down to one 600 watt hps. and this room is in a basement. one was still too hot so i used fans to exhaust the heat. still had to add another fan and suck in cooler air.

so based on my experience with 600 hps, you'll have trouble keeping heat down.

now the worst news..... i also sprayed mine to cool them down and the combination of heat and moisture caused bud rot on some colas. i lost a couple ozs.
