One teen was arrested after a police officer spotted him and three other teens smoking marijuana Friday night in an elementary school parking lot, police said.
The four individuals, who are all from Tewksbury, were apprehended after the officer noticed a suspicious-looking vehicle around 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Ditson Elementary School on Cook Street, said Police Sgt. Roy Frost.
Frost said, after the group saw the officer, they attempted to flee before the officer stopped them.
One teen, a 16-year-old male, was charged with marijuana possession and arraigned at Lowell Juvenile Court, Frost said. His name is not released because of his status as a juvenile.
Frost said his companions - two males and a female, who Frost said drove the car - were taken to the police station and released to their parents. Frost declined to elaborate on the other teens' ages but said some were at least 17.
