Tales From The Krip!

millertm, I found this back by the link - one of those spans when I was busy and missed pages - and wanted to comment. I control the heat buildup in the smaller 2x2 tents by leaving the flap open along the top for lights on. I also have small fans in each tent that blow air up towards the filter vent. It's a frustrating way to do it, but I vent into the room itself and heat builds up quickly if I don't keep after it. I also have small fans pushing cooler, air-conditioned air from the floor level into the tents.

It's not a good option for someone who isn't home most of the time, but it works for me. Venting the tents outdoors just isn't an option here. It works better in winter when the tents help warm the apartment. :battingeyelashes: Have you figured out how to keep yours under control?

I agree with K, that small spaces call for smaller lights. I won three massive ones and wasn't about to set them aside because I have tents too small for their power. I'm a little hardheaded like that.
I'm just running 400 watt bare bulb, when it's hot (97°now) 400. Later 420, midnight or so 500.

But it's tricky. I agree it's high maintenance. I'm an all or nothing guy and don't like small. This grow has been a challenge but at 24 days of flower. I'm looking at this.

It can be done, the question is how much time do you want to spend. Your place is really coming alive now. It ready to switch gears any day and your hands will be quite full.

Cheers

drcannabis, thanks for the tops, I have never grown indoors before and always wanted to so all the advice..thanks..Bama

Anytime Bama! Hopefully you'll start a journal and we can all help you along. Indoors is a whole different ballgame, but if you've grown outdoors successfully, a lot of that knowledge will translate to indoors. Most important thing once your plant gets growing is keeping the grow space pest free. Inside they're are no natural predators or wind, rain etc to knock them down. A solid IPM (Integrated Pest Management) is recommended. If you're going to grow with bagged soil and bottled nutrients you'll also want to purchase a good PH pen and an EC/PPM pen. If growing in LOS (Living Organic Soil) you won't need to worry about the PH or EC but it is quite a bit more laborious. :thumb:

SAMPLE TIME!

Since I was planning on starting the flush tomorrow, I thought I take a couple of samples. She's starting to ripen up now and is ALMOST at a point where I won't feel like I chopped her way too early.

Since I had people asking about how I sample, I basically just cut one or two small buds from the lower/middle of the plant that look to be about as ripe as the main colas.

In this case, I took two small buds about the size of a dime (but compared next to a nickel in the pic! :) ):

Next I check the trichomes...In this case, it's about 70% cloudy, 15% clear, and I was surprised to see about 15% already amber.

NOTE: It's important to check trichome color under NATURAL light and NOT LED's!!!

I'm gonna let these samples dry out and later today or tomorrow I'll try them and decide if I want to wait another day or two before flushing, but even two days is pushing it at this point as far as my needing to get the house taken care of.

BTW...You can see some of the slight purpling even on these small lower buds in the natural light.

I had 3 plants come up about the size of a blade of grass, what is there problem???Bam,a

Sounds like they're growing. Everything starts off small, and gets bigger. If they popped up, you're doing something right. ;-)

Sorry to be pages back again, but I must strongly disagree with this statement drcannabi. There aren't many growers on this site lazier than moi, and I chose LOS precisely because of the simplicity of the process. Build a good soil, top it with quality vermicompost and one can go seed to harvest with water only. My waterings are regularly scheduled minimal amendments that are no problem to fix and apply.

Honestly, it doesn't get much easier than my no-till LOS pots.

Been the same size for 3 weeks..Bama

They're autos. Three weeks stunted is bad news for an auto. I'd start again Bama.

I agree 420% with Sue! :welldone:

If they're auto's and like a blade of grass after three weeks, you'll only harvest a blade of "grass" at best! :)
