Taking HPS to another level

Hi everyone hope ur all well and the weed gods are being kind ...
Got 9 plants in a 1.2x1.2x2m tent three weeks into flowering and I figured dimmable hps on 400 would be enough during stretch and early flowering then say 4 weeks in when in full bloom hit them with 600 w until done..
Do they need 600 w from flip??
Is this an overkill??

Hopefully u can understand my way of thinking!!

1.2m x 1.2m is a bit large for a 600-watt HPS; the yield estimates on breeder/seller websites are generally based on the assumption of 600 watts per square meter, and your tent is 44% larger than that.

Switch to the 600-watt light now. Next time, switch to it when you change your light schedule to 12:12. If your ballast has some kind of "super" switch that'll overdrive your bulb by 10%, go ahead and use that from day one of the flowering period - 660 watts of HPS light would be roughly comparable to 600 watts in a square meter. Not quite, because you'll lose some efficiency running it at 660 watts, but near enough.

I am assuming that these are photoperiodic plants, by the way, due to your use of the term "flip."
