Free people are generous people! That's how!

If I see someone in need, I am FREE to help them if i so desire. But if my money/wealth/goods/services are taken from my by force (taxation is force. Just don't pay your taxes for a while and it won't be long until you see guns at your door) how do I know if you'll waste it? How do I know it won't be stolen? How do I know that it goes to someone deserving of it?

When I give it myself, it goes to a person I KNOW needs it. I feel blessed. They feel blessed....and it is all done via freedom, honesty and integrity.

I like social justice too....I just don't see it coming about via government force or power. The same idiots that want to put us in cages for this plant we love are to be trusted to re-distribute wealth?

But it's all good....I just got my tax bill. I'll get over this. :volcano-smiley:

I hear you and I understand the frustration. My best friend is a tax accountant and I hear a lot of that this time of year. It's a flawed system, but we don't have a better replacement yet. I've reached that point in life where I no longer need to file taxes. That shows you how far down the financial ladder health challenges have brought us. It also explains my concern for that safety net our government provides. At this point in our lives Dale would be dead without it and I would be homeless until I got myself back on my feet. Not attractive options in your 60s. Definitely not our plan when we married 34 years ago.

Worm Bin Update

Thursday is Enzyme Tea day, which means I have leftover mash to feed to the worm bin.

image22099.jpg

Today's worm delicacies included:
- one frozen banana peel that was super ripe when peeled (freezing helps to burst the cells for faster decomp)
- the rest of a frozen bunch of parsley
- the malted barley grain mash
- a sprinkling of minerals (for gizzards)
- a sprinkling of corn meal (just because)

All chopped up fine in the Kitchen Ninja, but not puréed. Worms need their food to be in small bits, not liquid mash.

Now get the worm bin out. I haven't even looked in here since I set up the pots for the new cycle a couple weeks ago. It's looking really active.

image22102.jpg

Dig a trench at one end of the bin.

image22103.jpg

Fill the trench with finely chopped food.

image22104.jpg

Cover the trench up to keep down fruit flies and gnats (yeah - like that actually works :laughtwo: ).

image22105.jpg

Cover with the cardboard (worms appreciate this extra darkness).

image22106.jpg

Top off with the breathable bag.

image22107.jpg

Offset the cover to keep good airflow.

image22108.jpg

Back in the hiding place.

This was an ample feeding for my small worm community and should last them over a week. I'll leave them to their own devices for two weeks and do this all over again.

I feel less neglectful now. :green_heart:

When you have almost 50 active subscribers with this level of intelligence you get a lot of conversation BAR. :laughtwo: It gets away from me sometimes too, but I love listening to it all. :green_heart:

Re: Sweetsue's Tiny Closet - Second Grow - Sweet Dark Devil & Bomb Berry Bomb - CFL -

Sooner or later I WILL be gnat free! They've invaded my worm bin and the Nepenthes too, which is why I'm having such a difficult time with them. I still need to get consistent with dunks and seriously need some yellow sticky traps. The Nepenthes need repotted, but they're Dale's babies, so that's on hold.

I'm thinking go with bobrown's H2O2 spray and just shoot the buggers out of the air! Then maybe I can get a running start on them, 'cause quite frankly they're driving me a bit crazy. Bobrown, if you're around, was that a 50/50 mix with water?

This tiny closet holds a lot of love. People are drawn to love. The loving people who congregate here are scary smart about growing cannabis. I think it works out well.

I'm not coming out. I'm.not comimg out you hear. I'm not comimg out of your closet you hear me.

I'll just keep wearing my sunglasses at night.

We have many active participants and I tend toward long-winded. Things move quickly sometimes.

My light won't arrive until tomorrow. The driver was reluctant to leave it on the porch in my urban neighborhood. Smart man. I sat in the stairway for 45 minutes wandering around our virtual neighborhood before I realized he had left me a note taped to the window. You guys are such a distraction!

I'm rethinking my whole grow structure, from a plant-to-harvest set up and a diminishing light schedule to tiered perpetual under 11/13. I want to mirror what DrZiggy does but with LOS, with a couple surprises tossed in. This is not as simple as it would seem. You would think extensive preparation would be called for and yet, after studying and letting the whole idea brew for a couple weeks I'm going to jump right in and start. I'm jumping way outside my comfort zone, but what's life without a little risk? Look at how much I'll learn.

I must be crazy. Or just adventurous. Yeah, let's go with that.

Now I really need to start a list of materials and supplies. :laughtwo::green_heart:

Wow! go away for a day or two and missed the worm feeding!?!

Can't wait to see those little girls grow up. Gonna take a few hundred pages? I love it!

Keep'em Green, Sue!

Couple of points, the max temp range for the red wigglers is ~84F so any hotter than that bring them in.

You can make a fungus gnat trap with a little apple cider vinegar and a few drops of liquid soap (dawn, etc) shaken together
Use a water bottle (the throwaway kind, small opening)
Leave it near where they're flying.
