Supervisors Say Industrial Hemp Legislation Should Be Considered

A bill that would allow farmers to grow industrial hemp is being considered by Congress. Hemp is similar to marijuana but does not have the same effects when it's smoked. The issue came before the Albemarle supervisors Wednesday after Capitol Hill lawmakers wanted local governments to weigh in. The supervisors voted 4-2 to ask Congress to keep considering the legislation. Supervisor Dennis Rooker points out that the resolution leaves regulation of hemp farming to the states.
