some questions about venting

I was designing my vent and wanted to hook up my...

portable AC (12000 BTU)
room vent ( 4 x8 x 7)
vented hoods ( 2x1000 watt)

to the same 6" 530 CFM inline fan.

I was going to just ask the question if the fan was powerful enough but while I was looking for a calculator to help me figure it out, I ran into some posts saying not to hook the lights and general room vents into the same run.

Why not?

I was figuring on using an inline carbon filter after the two vents where "Y'ed" together.

Wont the vented hoods need filtering as well?

Do you mean air cooled hoods? If the air going through the hood is all sealed off, then it doesn't need to be filtered. Also is the plan to take air coming out of one hood and go through another? Or do you have a parallel system?

If you could do some drawing of what you are thinking would help.
