Solo Cup Comp: Bring It!

Glimmer this is an auto. I'll look back and see if she started flowering early but I don't think it really did

How many grams did that beauty bring you dry weight? Or if she's still growing, how much do you expect?

Well there not solo cups just tiny pots like the starter flowers and things come in from Lowe's or home depot but yes. They are growing in between grow cycles in my tent under a 1200 watt mars 2.

I'm not trying to sound cool or anything but it's not hard... I DO NOTHING SPECIAL. Just mix the advanced nutrients to the schedule outlined in my sig and pour it in the pot. The biggest pain is watering twice a day when there flowering.

Here's what my tent looks like atm.... I start the small pots when the big plants are 30 days or so from being chopped. Then they get up a little size the big ones are chopped and the small ones tower over the sprouts but do not block the light. By the time the sprouts get large enough to need the entire tent the small pots are chopped.

I see folks making the "mini dwc" in the Solo cups it's really cool and I hope it works. But the key for me in small pots of growing is treating it as a "passive hydro" system..... using a soiless medium (coco or peat) then watering 2 or 3 times daily with run off.... that's a passive hydro system and the root mass doesn't have to be as large to do the same job... if you notice the guys who run passive hydro with drip feeds pull massive weights from 1 gallon pots

The plant on the left is auto purple amnesia the one on the right is smaller but in a 1 quart pot (more medium) but it's a spur blur from mephisto it's a smaller strain and not eligible for Mr. Marz comp here

It really isn't too hard, I was intimidated about my first solo grow and it came out great.I always end up with a couple extra clones or my stockpile of seeds and why not grow em out? Once I'm done pheno hunting I'll be going clone to flower in 1/2 gallon containers. On a 4*4 table you can do 48 at a time, and even if you only get a half ounce per plant you get 1.5 lb every 8 weeks or so.

This is crazy to think about^.

Exactly how I feel.... just water frequently and let them go....

With my mini DWC I was going to prune roots as needed, maybe I'll kill it maybe she'll thrive?

no sneaky auto watering systems off camera, that would be like hiding aces up one's sleeve at the poker table.
You might have to take your plant to work with you and water it there as well. I'm sure no one would mind in this day and age.

It means that only the people who are at their grow every day for the next few months, or have a helper, can be in the competition. Personally I have to be away most weekdays. Other than that, well, we probably all know how to water by now. It would just take dedication and possibly a good alarm clock

Edit- I'd actually much rather hand water than have to invent an autowatering system and worry about ph levels and clogged lines and whatever else happens, which I wouldn't know, since I haven't done this before. Basically I'm trying to learn how to grow dtw hydro, set it up, leave home and hope for the best. But it seems like a fun part of the challenge and a good way to learn new things, as long as the roots stay in the cup it's a solo cup grow, right?

Thanks for keeping it real Marz, Vlad already had his timers and dripper system at hand :bongrip:

PH doesn't fluctuate in a res that is drain to waste, I check it every few days anyway though...

I can only imagine that an 18 oz cup will need lots of watering 4 weeks into flower

This is going to be fun! I need all the technical aids I can get my hands on to compete with star growers.

The stuff that I've seen growing on this forum blows my mind sometimes.
