hey guys i just ordered a 3 gallon trio pack of Blue Planet Nutrients and i wanted to know if it is ok to repot my plants into happy frog soil if i am going to start feeding it on a schedule, it is in FFOF soil right now but the happy frog is cheaper and i need to repot the plants. Also does any one know of a good reliable accurate ph soil meter? i dont care how much it cost i just want it to work good, thanks for any input. Check out my journal in sig if you have time tha nks!:thanks:

whats good ILB!!!

Welcome to BPN!!! I have been meaning to write you!!! so I guess I can tackle 2 birds with 1 stone sorta deal!!!

first on your question!!!
I don't think it is good to switch soils, even though they are both from FF, Happy Frog has different nutes in it from the composts... I personally would stick with the same type of soil... but thats me... HF i didn't like, growing with it indoors, it took way to long to dry out!!! 14 days!!! screw all that noise!!!

pH meter, although I am on my second one, I feel that this one is better than the last 1 that I had, it has a moisture, light and pH meter on it!!! I got it at Home Depot for 7.97 this is the photo of it!!!

and now for my question to you!!!

Is it ok for me to put your link in the BPN Army Journal blog??? we have 20+ journals in it now!!!

no offense, but that ph meter/probe I have too, and I find it to be only good for checking the moisture level's of the soil...It is complete crap for ph as I have found out... I used mine the other day and it was reading my soil at 7ph.... I ran some distilled ph balenced water thru, and the runoff was -2.0ph lower than the PH balanced water...overall trusting this soil probe almost killed my OG...

I would get a good digital ph meter, I have a hanna PHeP which is around 50$ and will suit you way better than a inacurate soil probe... then at least you can test your nutrients, test your runoff and be much more confident..

my last meter I had did that same thing!!! I figured I would make sure that I didn't have that issue again with this meter, so I bought a soil pH test kit along with this meter, and they both read at the same levels... I had the soil test kit show me 6.0 in the color code, and I put the meter in and it showed me around a 5.8 in the Afgoo... Then I checked my GDP soil test showed a green which in color code was the 7.0 and I stuck the meter in and it showed a 6.8 is what I would guess... it was right before the 7 so... it works fine for me... maybe you just got a defective one??? thanks for sharing your experience with us, I know now that I must make sure to check the calibration on mine!!! when I get the funds I will have a digi!!! can't wait!!!

Milwaukee pH600 (basic) digital pH meter..... ~$20.

Yes, and only single-point (no slope). Been several years since I used one. It was ok, basic meter. Cannot comment on (non-replaceable) probe longevity; I gave it to someone who moved. I kept it from drying out and it seemed stable & consistent. All meters with non-replaceable/refillable probes are disposable units. Was worth the $19(iirc) it cost.
