Small scale carbon filter question

alright so i just moved into a trailer, the lady before me had a wood stove of something installed and theres a 4 inch exaust piipe going outside. my hangout spot is the living room and the front door is right there so smell is kind of a problem plus theres always smoke rolling out when we open it.. i was thinking of looking for a carbon filter thats narrow enough to put in the pipe (which is also about 2ft long) and then i could hook up a small inline fan pushing the smoke and air outside. i havent been able to find any posts similar to my problem so any advice or thoughts would be great. thanks :thumb:

A typical inline fan would likely be too small with a low CFM rating to make much of a difference. You're venting an entire trailer, so you would want much more flow to dissipate smell/smoke quickly.

On top of your CFM rating needing to be higher, you'll need the trailer to be fairly well sealed up; well enough to allow for negative pressure, to ensure all smoke flows through the fan/filter.

Adding a filter to a standard inline would mask smell better, but reduce flow even further.

I would think that your current plan would take over an hour to cycle all the air out. That's a guess based on no measurements, but probably not far off. The benefit would be minimal.

You may be better served with an air purifier for the smoke, and that jarred odor control stuff, like Ona, for the smell. Or just an air purifier that has an activated carbon prefilter, or other dedicated odor control system/setting.

Perhaps an inline filter going to the exhaust duct with a jar of Ona open and placed under the fan would do an ok job with the smell, but it would still probably be slow going.
