Slow to flower

I have some photoperiod plants (three different strains) growing and they are very slow showing pistils and developing flowers.
Normally by now there would be a lot of pistils showing after more than a week on 12/12 light.
The temps in the small grow space are between 17c and 23c which are a bit lower than I used to get in a tent, but now there is a small room to grow in that is in a concrete block garage and the temps haven’t gone above 23c so far, or lower than 15c.
There are no light leaks and I can see a few pistils here and there, but not many yet.
The plants look healthy otherwise.

I do not remember the temperatures having any noticeable effect of how soon or fast any particular plant or even strain went into a flowering stage.

The strain does seem to have an influence, though. Also, the Indica dominent strains would tend to be 5 to 7 days. The strains that were supposed to have more of a Sativa dominance could be 10 to 12 days. Though I could see the start of the change in the buds on those by the 7th to 10th day.

Welcome to 420 Magazine my friend.
I’ve noticed on some strains it can take up to 2 weeks to show transition to flower :Namaste:

Thanks. There seem to be lots of prebuds but the little hairy pistils that start growing out of them seem a lot fewer than in earlier grows, and the only thing different is that now they are not in a tent but in a small concrete grow room that never seems to get hot.
I have had to add a small space heater to the space to keep the temps above 15c with lights out, but even with it running with the light, the room stays below 25c.
This, of course opens up new opportunities for growing in the hot months, since I was always fighting hot temps in the tent if I tried to grow in the summer, but I’m forced to use more electricity now to keep the temps useful.

I found oil filled rads economical and effective.
A little insulation between the pot and floor helps roots stay warm aswell.
Just curious do you get complete darkness for 12 hrs?

Thanks. I use a 2000w oil filled rad and also a couple of 85w heating tubes and the 600w hps light.
I have the light extractor fan set to low so it sucks less heat from the lamp.
I considered changing to an open light reflector instead of an air cooled enclosed reflector, but I’d rather not.
I lined the concrete walls with sheets of slightly insulated Mylar so it bounces light and heat back into the space and not into the cold concrete walls.
The pots sit on top of 2 inch thick insulation panels and they get 12 hours of dark, coming from a 20/4 veg light schedule.
The grow space is bigger and taller than a tent now and heat rises, so that’s probably why the space is colder.
