Single nanner

Hi!

I seem to have encountered a single banana at week 6 Flower. A little bit of reading suggests this is common in late Flower, as they lady is trying to preserve herself.

I’m thinking to remove the banana, by cutting it off with fine scissors and keeping a vacuum nozzle directly near it, to suck in any rogue pollen that may get away.

Does this sound like a reasonable thing to do?

They barely produce pollen- a lot of them seem to produce none, and in general they aren’t a big threat. I’d just remove it however seems easiest.
Well that’s good to know I didn’t know that. :passitleft:

Will the tweezers cause it to “pop”? Would cutting it be better?
No tweezer to me makes more sense cut bud lose yield and make it more prone for diseases. Tweezer if done right should just slide right off

If you can see the actual nanner, it's already popped...There's no yellow "dust" around it,so it's probably shooting blanks...not to worry

Give it the tweezer treatment....

So if I see this little banana looking thing. This means it has put out pollen already?

I plucked it. Its really extremely tiny and hard to get at. I dug in just a little bit trying to get it, in it’s entirety.

Now when I look with my loupe there’s a tiny mangled mess where it was.

IF it had pollen then yes,it would have already dropped it,but if it had, you'd likely see evidence of it
in the area surrounding it (yellow dust) unless there's a fan blasting on that particular spot.
The vacuum was a good idea, just in case.
If the pistils close to it were pollinated, they'll start to shrivel up and die real soon,I mean real soon, and they appear ok in the pic.
So I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

I’ve just had a fair number of nanners over the years and in my experience they aren’t anything to panic about. Yes if you have a bunch of them you’ll probably get a few seeeds, but one nanner... meh.... I’d just pick it off. It’s already spread its pollen by now if it had any. Vacuum cleaner sounds like way too much work :).
