SILVERTHORNE, Colo. (AP) - The town of Silverthorne has agreed to allow medical marijuana dispensaries to operate as long as they're not near schools, residential neighborhoods and public places.
The rules approved this week call for the new businesses to open in areas already allowing drug stores and pharmacies.
Marijuana cultivation in some areas of town would also be allowed under the new provisions.
Silverthorne had imposed a 90-day moratorium on new marijuana dispensaries while officials agreed on how to regulate them. The moratorium expires Nov. 10.
Breckenridge and Frisco also have approved regulations.
Colorado voters in 2000 approved the use of marijuana for medical reasons, but local governments can control where the dispensaries can open.
