This just started to flower a few weeks ago and was wondering if it was ok to trim a bit within the bush. It gets full sun but looks thick . Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey @sorcerer13 hope you are well my friend.
She looks fantastic.
Imo if she is getting full sun and there aren't any issues I'd let her be.
Once I train my outdoor girls I let them be.
She is healthy happy and growing well no need to mess with her.
Looks like plant of the month for October to me. :thumb:
Stay safe.

Bill, what about trimming leaves that block the sun from getting to the buds?
Leaves are doing photosynthesis not the flowers so the fan leaves are actually feeding the flowers... make sense? Flowers dont do photosynthesis.

Take a look at the big fan leaves you will see the stem (petiole) of the fan leaf attached right at the base of the flower or bud. So how does the flower/bud get the energy to create a bigger better flower if you remove the food source of that flower?

Then there's:

Senescence
Translocation
Abscission

These 3 processes are what the fan leaf will do coming down the stretch, and why you see them turn colors and fall off.

Letting those fan leaves do their natural progression will increase quality and yields.
Its the science.

I do trim for air flow. You are not at that point yet. Let her go till at least mid flower. As leaves turn yellow pop them off. She needs the energy in those leaves to help get bigger bud. As the buds get bigger and you feel you need air flow, then think about defoliating. Just my 2 cents..

Thanks for all the info!!!!
I can't wait for the harvest. I grew 6 from seed and only one survived. Three died and two were male. It's a CBD strain and was planning to make a pain relief rub or salve.

Have you been to the cottage lately?
Thanks for your informative post.

You always put things so eloquently. :thumb:
