Should I or shouldn't I?

I typically use a 250w cfl for clones and seedlings until I can put them under a 400w MH light before they move into the hps tent for flowering. My neighbor ordered some auto's and he is going to gift me some seeds for giving him my mother plant and a clone. I also have a 3x3 gorilla tent in addition to the 5x5 gorilla tent I use for flowering, I was going to try a couple of the autos in the 2x2 tent over the winter period and was trying to decide... old school lighting or the new to me bo-fangled led lighting. So looking for suggestions for a led unit with a good warranty and one that produces good results without breaking the bank. I guess I'm looking for 1 that will fit a 3x3 tent but will cover a 4 x4 area as I may move it into my room where I replace the cfl I use for seedlings and clones and such. Any one with experience using these lights in a small area such as a 3x3 and 4x4 - what do you suggest. My budget is about $300 maybe a tad more if I get excited about it.

Any suggestions.

was looking a vivosun but I have read they don't honor their warranty. Also looked at vevor but the ballast people said were cheap.
Looking at Mars and a few others with 5 year warranties.

From what I’ve read here the couple people who needed a warranty issue dealt with were very happy with @VIVOSUN :Namaste:
They have a good selection in your price range.
Just 2 cents.
Happy growing.

haven't counted them out just leary at this point
I understand.
I had an issue myself and am leery of certain retailers.
I spent 10 thousand bucks on a year round grow facility after a grow room fire in my house caused us to move up here.
I chose @VIVOSUN as my grow room equipment supplier.
The VS6450 is the best light I’ve ever used.
Even better than my EZ81000 Watt light.
They make several in that line that would work great.
I’ve tried every sponsor we have and choose VIVOSUN.
We have great sponsors with a lot of really good equipment in your price range.
Lots of options.

Thx Bill - It's all about results - and yours show just that - not counting it out but your making me feel better about it. thanks

looking at a mars fc-e4800 - it will fit in a 3x3 tent - $308, Philizon fd4500 (might be too big dimension wise) - $250, Vivosun vs4000 - $300, Vipar k3 3000 - $300 - seems these will fit a 3x3 tent. leaning towards the mars as it has higher wattage/5 year warranty.

if you are going to mars make sure to go through the board for the discount and buy the newest series possible. mars treats folk going through the board better than random clients.

you'll want the newest series as the mfgr is known to cheap out on components as the series ages. mars lights often do not ship with the same spec they advertise as the series gets older.

mars is also the most counterfeited light on the market so make sure to go direct through the board and not through a third party supplier or amazon.

what do you mean by going thru the board (hitting the sponsor link on the sponsor page?)

thx

Still leary as mfg's seam to have a pretty high 1 star reviews for the negatives compared to most products. Wondering if I should stick with my HPS/MH/CFL true and tried combo? - Ballasts are only $70 and bulbs $20 or less - just have to deal with the heat. Whereas, LED's seem to have a high problem rate from cheapo components, to ballasts failures, etc. They been out quite long now and would have thought their would be more favorable reviews buy now (I know most are 80% and above - but seems pretty low compared to other products I buy)..... not convinced yet at $300+

Mars(seller) has ebay sale with a EBAY 20% COUP[ON.. MAKING THE FC EVO 4800 $388 including tax. ($440-$88 + tax $35.20. Sponsor deal is a $1 better it seems. BUT ebay ships from cali, mars ships from tailand.

looks pretty good

If I do it, think I'm a gonna go for the mars fc-evo 4800 mars direct (sponsor) $378.29 no tax direct (longer shipping) or Ebay $387.19 includes tax (ships from cali - mfg is the ebay seller). decisions, decisions, decisions.... Vivisun only has 1 model to fit in my tent (vs4000). Thinking ebay purchase (sales tax is paid), ebay protects the buyer for the most part, and if there is any damage or problems you get no grief to send back at sellers expense. Since mfg is seller - s/b no warranty issues either - hopefully. Didn't care for the philizon fd4500 or the vipar k3.

Unless someone convinces me otherwise

thank ya all for your input

super good chance it is counterfeit. don't buy anything mars off amazon / ebay. do a search here to see all the folk who got burned that way.
mars will not honour a warranty if bought at a third party supplier. you'd have to deal with the seller and they usually never return messages.

go direct to mars through the board or from a trusted source.

bulbs are being phased out completely. they'll probably only be available for another yr or 2. there is a law here with an end date for all bulbs including household.

all the old hid mfgrs are going into led now. the others are just going out of business.

you have to educate yourself on what makes a good led rig. i built and sold led rigs for close to a decade. they aren't hard to figure out once you have experience with them.

thanks for the info - did not know that about the hd's. the ebay seller is the manufacturer so I don't think they will send me a counterfeit 1 if I order from them. It is not a random seller but thanks for looking out. Not sure what makes a good rig, learning about it. I searched and did not find anything regarding bad mars/ebay complaints ,maybe amazon did not search for that I don't purchase from amazon. thx for thew heads up - still undecided.

read up on chipsets - which are the diodes or emitters. pay attention to that and the driver brand and specs. emitter and drivers come in several levels of varying quality. you'll also want a rig with dimming capability, a continuous dimmer is superior to one with set points.

binning is important in emitters. lower bin emitters are cheaper and do not perform as well but may be sold under the same brand and type as a higher bin.

daisy chaining to be able to control 2 or more lights at the same time can be nice but is not a deal breaker.

there isn't a pile beyond that.

thanks bud....which manufacturer do you use and/or recommend?

i built all the rigs i currently run. i have a commercial rig i'm gonna mod before i put it into production. i'll be adding a dimmer.

also just wondering why you wouldn't get a better sponsor discount than some random dude purchasing off of ebay.
At least they should take the ebay price less the sales tax for a sponsor price. my 2 cents NOT worth half that!

you still do better purchasing through the site by $10.

mars sells both direct and through a myriad of third parties. the discounts don't follow as each vendor is a separate entity. a lot of mfgrs do that in the industry. you have know who you are talking to when placing an order.

the mars vendor you talk to on ebay is not the same as contacting the vendor direct or through the board.

i've decided at no difference in cost to me, basically, am going to deal with the vendor directly should I purchase. - still researching ha but limited selections due to physical dimensions of units or wattage as I have 2 intended uses for it 1 requires physical dimensions for a 3x3 tent i have and the other is for a slightly larger space I plan to use it in should I like it.

thx for your help
