New to the site and decided to share my first grow ... I'm in week 9 but just starting journal
I will try create a walk through from beginning until end I'm a noob so bare with and feel free to advise if I make a mistake posting or growing likewise

Shining silver haze scrog

300w CFL week 1-3 veg
600w MH week 3-7 veg
600w HPS flowering
6 X shining silver haze from seed (Royal queen seeds) grown in soil (biobiz light mix / gold lable special mix)
1.2x1.2x2 grow tent with Extraction/Carbon filter
Dutch pro nutes

After reading many many articles, grows and others advice I decided upon a scrog grow. This is my first grow and first attempt at scrog .... Here goes

I'm starting this journal on week 9 (3rd week of flowering) I decided although late I would share my experiences and results for two reasons

Although there are many articles directed at scrog grows most are fairly vague and not backed with picture walk throughs and a lot of the others that are decent vary .. So here's my attempt

Secondly there doesnt seem to be much info at all on the strain I'm growing SSH) especially in Scrog

I have photos to accompany each stage of my grow and will try my best to upload the with relevant text.

I germinated my seeds by placing in a glass of water and leaving for 24 hours at this point all but one had sunk to the bottom and shells had cracked open, I removed all and placed inside a wet paper towel on a small dish with a low voltage heat mat underneath in a dark draw to keep up humidity. A day later to my delight all six had a very healthy looking tap root protruding.

I now transplanted the seeds (tap root down) into some root riot cubes placed inside a growing pot covered in cling film to keep humidity up and set my 300w blue spectrum CFL above them.

Photos are coming shortly with next instalment :Namaste:

Re: Shining silver haze Scrog grow 600w soil ! Going well

Sounding great so far! I just started some super silver haze from crop king seeds...I wonder if they are related?

I'm doing a SCROG now and ran into the same issue as you of not knowing. So far it seems well, but have nothing to compare to due to my first grow also. Can't wait for pictures! :thumb:

Re: Shining silver haze Scrog grow 600w soil ! Going well

This may be dumb but how do I upload them ? Lol I'm struggling to figure it out but have loads from week 1-9 3rd week of flowering and buds are beginning to link up nicely !! I'd love to share it all and gain some opinions / tips

Ok so now I'm starting to get to grips with the site I'm going to add some photos I will upload a few at a time of progression already made as in on week nine (3rd of flower)

After my germinated seeds sprouted I planted into some riot root cubes (imo a good way to go and 100percent successful for me)

image418.png

As previously noted I had one seed that didn't sink during germination (glass of water method ) it also took far longer to sprout and I had to help it above ground .. I pretty much considered this a throw away but as I had space let it grow any way to see what happened .
I reported into 3 gallon pots which I now consider an early mistake as I had to employ special watering techniques to ensure decent and even root growth

image419.png

I read up and learned if I watered in a small circle ever increasing as my plants grew I could get past overwatering and correct root growth (this mistake of transplanting into what I considered final pots so early on also became a concern later on but we will get to that )

With correct technique my babies began to grow well and looked healthy from day one
I did notice the six plants all varied in size a fair bit ... This did eventually rectify itself with some rotating and height boosting under smaller plants pots .

I decided to keep my plants under 300w blue spectrum CFL for three weeks, another thing I will learn from! I think two maximum in future. As I was planning a decent length veg ( 7 weeks) I just wanted to let my plants strengthen well before introduction of 600w MH

image424.png

I'm using Dutch pro nutes and started to administer these after week three .. I will most likely start at week two in future also ! I used take root for better root development from the day they went into the 3gal pots but waited until this point for advanced nutes.
In honesty my plants looked healthy and full of life so I don't think it particularly hindered them.

At week 4 with the introduction of my 600w MH and growth nutes my babies began to expand out and bush well with very tight node spacing. I was never particularly worried about height as its not really an issue but as this journal will go on to show my plants stayed small on height for a couple of reasons

A) the close proximity of my lights from day 1 ! My temps are really well regulated (introduction of an exhaust fan and carbon filter came only when I switched from CFL to MH) my CFL kept my tent at a pretty perfect 26/27 degrees and it was no more then a couple inches from my tops

B) I didn't realise I had a broken timer so as it turned out most of my veg was 24/0

C) I decided to scrog

Which brings me to my next photos

I topped all of my plants once only and placed my scrog net approx 10inches from base of plants, I'd suggest higher for ease of access for watering and cleaning up of under canopy!

I used 2.5cm square holed garden trellace to make my net and it seems to have done the job perfectly

I will stop here and hope for feedback before this all becomes too long for Any one to bother reading but will happily reply to questions or comments and add more soon
:thanks:
Special thanks to nismo12 for helping me get the hang of the site

The girls look like they were brought up in a loving home for sure. Loving the detail you have going on with your journal.

I went with 4" (10 cm) for my scrog. I used garden string so essentially it is acting like LST without tying them down. I thought 1" would be too small, but seems to be working for you.

One of the biggest things I've noticed with first grows is learning from your own mistakes and what to do different next time. And this community helps a ton!

Those almost look more indica compared to my sativa super silver haze. But nonetheless will be awesome.

Also, we are here to help and guide everyone along when needed. So again welcome and keep up the good work!

Thanks man as said really appreciate it I have tons of photos and more content to upload just thought I'd give people a rest after my first babble 2.5 has worked really well as my pics will show but you have to keep on top of tucking or as I found out and will post about ... SNAP :( but I managed to repair a complete snapped off top and am pleased in a way as again it was another learning curve

I'd skip the CFL stage and start with your MH bulb. CFL are not bad but HID lighting is better. Great start, but 7 week veg is long time. I run clone's 3 week veg flower for 60 days and get 6 to eight zips. But tear it up brother.

Cheers

Topping is addictive, I know. Nice having a timer in your ballast.

Ok sod it its all going up I've looked through so many great grows this evening and want to show mine :thumb:

Ok so where did I leave off ... I began my tucking and soon found out 2.5cm holes work well but require tucking extremely regular!
Trying to pull to much top back through holes of this size lead me to snapping a top clean off later in my grow ! (Don't panic with the help of this forum I read how to give a chance of recovery and to my amazement it worked !!) I will cove this later on week two of flower roughly.

For a while in veg not much excitement happened which in a way is good because it means my grow was running smoothly.
At this point I'm feeding 2ml of grow part a 2ml part b with every 100ml of water and never got any nute burn ! This is two thirds of Dutch pros suggested top dose.

Growth went fairly well and steady I noticed some lower leaves starting to yellow and after ruling out ph nuts burn and consulting this site I figured out I needed to add calmag at 1ml per 100ml water with each mute watering which is every other watering.
In case your wondering I always hand water a litre (100ml) each plant each time this leaves me to water every other day any my plants seem to respond well.
I continued my tucking and that nute regime all the way until the end of week 7 at which point my scrog net was approx 70% full and I decided it was time to flip :cheertwo:

I replaced my 600w MH for my dual spectrum 600w HPS I also bought a new ballets ... Somthing I'm only a few weeks into using but seems good so far .....
LUMIA TIMA 600w magnetic ballast .. It has a built in timer which allows you to eliminate plug in times . Somthing I consider a plus. It is simple a toggle switch that flicked left regulates ballast to 18/6 left in centre 24/0 and right 12/12 thus at a flic of a switch you light cycle is set very simple and I have waited at tents edge several times and like clock work bing lights on !
I didn't mention previously I have a storage heater tube that's run on its own thermostate inside tent to ensure temp is always correct !!

I switched to bloom nutes with switch to flower and continued the tuck for two more weeks .. Bringing us to start week 10 now my girls are going up and showing decent bud and pistol production

Here's a pic through my loupe and a bud shot...

I think that's everything so far enjoy and feel free to comment

Awe shucks man first sign of flowering! Good shit. Waiting for that update on what they look like today!

HEY LIGHT ADDICT! I was going to do a scrog or flux training next time. I know with flux training you increase buds sites substantially..... When does it become an issue because I really liked the idea.

Sorry to jack the thread for a minute..... The question worked for the situation.

I read a ton of his write ups last night and going to do fluxing this run...kinda want to know also lol

Ha lol, the thing with fluxing is it gives total even spacing of colas no matter the number, so you get even light pen and airflow to all sites! So fluxing and colas sites is only determined by your space available :) its kind of the only way I know where you can't go over with sites. This is due to me taking every other node off as were growing the base!

Soz for the hijacking, any more fluxing Qs can be posted to flux central :)
