:welcome: to the forum!

Where there's green, there's life! It's not a lost cause. We'd need to know how you are treaing your plants to offer any meaningful suggestions as to how you can improve their chances.

Some notes on the forum:
Active participation is rewarded here. Reaching 50 posts will allow personal messaging, as well as voting and entry in our contests. You can congratulate the winners in past contests, and urge on those entering this month. Welcoming new members is also an easy way to increase your post count.

You can save money on your growing needs. Many of our sponsors offer member discounts, which are listed in this thread. Our sponsor Mars Hydro often has exclusive contests here. They have given away least three of their newest grow lights in the past few months. This is the thread to watch for Mars Hydro events. Note that their new SP and TS series of lights have won HID (MH, HPS, and CMH) users over to the LED side of life. SmokeSara, their representative checks in most week days, and will be happy to help you with your lighting needs. Why not enter Mars Hydro's current contest for a chance to win a free grow light? You can enter up to three times. The contest ends on Friday.

Browse through the journals. You're sure to find one with the same growing medium and nutrients you use. Start your own grow journal here and update it at least weekly. That journal helps us to give better advice should you run into problems. It may take a while, but you'll have folks subbed in soon enough. Finally, if you don't know or are unsure about something, ask! Folks here are very friendly, and would love to help you succeed!

How I’m treating it? I am just spraying it with proper ph’d water when it looks dry , it’s growing in a mix of super soil and promix , it’s my first attempt at indoor growing , love that answer tho! I was worried just from what I have read they only have so long to live it just looked odd to me . The shell was stuck on the leafs when she first popped out of the soil I did pick it off , and would you recommend germinating on paper towel ? Or just soaking them and then into the dirt?

I scarify them, then drop them in a shot glass with water and a very light dose of CALiMAGic. When they drop, they are placed between damp paper towels until they germinate, and have a tap root that just emerges. I prefer them to be 3mm-6mmlong or 1/8" - 1/4". This helps prevent damaging the root when it is planted. I grow in coco/perlite, so they are put in in a 4" (10cm) nursery pot to get through the seedling stage.

You'll find lots of good information for soil growing in Emilya's current journal. Her paper, 'The Proper Way to Water a Potted Plant' is considered a must read for soil growing.

i know they're expensive but i use rapid rooters for sprout seeds. i love them because there's minimal handling of the seed and seedling after it's hatched.

I'm stubborn and won't cull anything until it is beyond dead ;) as they can surprise you. They will usually shed off the shell on their own, sometimes spray bottle with water helps soften them up, but best to wait until they all the way out of the soil and you are sure they need some help as they are rather fragile as shoots. Personally I soak for 24 hours and go right into my medium in yogurt cups (easier to not over water them), but I am clumsy and lose more to mishandling or the paper towels drying out and damaging the root than I do by just going straight into my medium after soaking.

I will defiantly give the sand paper technique with a bit of calmag in the water while soaking , so you guys think I should put a dome around it to stay more humid or just leave it like this and spray lightly a few times a day? And also I have another seed that I have been trying to germinate but to no prevail , is it to late to try those techniques on it at this point , even about a week , sunk to the bottom of the water after I tapped it with my finger then placed it in a nice soaked paper towel ( not to soaked ) and put them in a small Tupperware container , I had it sealed for the first few day’s then I read that I shouldn’t do that so I left a crack open , was on a heat pad low temp and sprayed when needed , to late? Also I will post another pic at 2 weeks old see what you guys think

A resounding yes to the dome. I use a 7" high dome on my seedling tray until they have at least two sets of leaves.

This is her sister , she is 25 days old started lst yesterday to expose those tops , look ok so far?

Come and get them. I have a bag of them I won't be using. :dude-knocking:

@Remystemple, I'm serious. If someone around the Halifax area wants them, they can have them. It's better than tossing them on the compost heap.

They're suffering from the 'blurple' disease. :cheesygrinsmiley:

They look good to me.

hang on to em and when i get some seeds we can do a mail swap LOL.

it's funny because if i do end up with lots of seeds the first way i'll be trying to germinate is right in the coco coir. if that works well for me i'll never buy rapid rooters again.

I still use the scarify, shot glass, paper towel method for germination. I plant them in coco/perlite as soon as the tap root is 3mm - 6mm long. The short tap root isn't damaged as easily, as the 12mm - 20mm lengths most recommend. I haven't lost a germinated seed since I started using this method.

the short tap root is the best tip for germinating. it's way sturdier at that point.

I tried a couple for clones, but was not happy with the results. OK, they died.

I now just coat the stem to just above the first node with Stim Root #2, and plant them in a propagation tray with coco/perlite. I poke a hole in the coco/perlite, insert the cutting taking care not to disturb the Stim Root, and push the coco/perlite gently against the stem. I have a success rate of over eighty percent with this method.
