RICHIBUCTO - An estimated 1,500 marijuana plants, enough to roll 750,000 marijuana joints, was seized by police in wooded areas near Acadieville and Bass River, Kent County, this week.

District 5 RCMP reported an additional 2,100 plants were also seized from surrounding areas, raising the total number of illegal plants seized in the past week to 3,600.

"These seizures will contribute a great deal to reducing crime in the communities we serve," said RCMP Sgt. Jeff Johnson. "The marijuana seized represents up to two million joints that will no longer be circulating in our communities, that won't reach our young people, and that won't line the pockets of organized crime groups."

No arrests were noted with the recent seizures.

The public can help eradicate the marijuana grow-operations by providing information on drug-related activities to police or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

All they did was increase the profits of those growers that didn't get caught. thanks to this bust cartels may step in and fill that void with low quality cannabis that may be contaminated and WILL fund the deaths of and destruction of families.
