Rep. Katie True Is False On Medical Cannabis

In a Bulletin article published on April 30, State Rep. Katie True spoke her opposition to HB1393, a medical marijuana bill by saying, "This is all information, in my opinion, from potheads."

There are thousands of scientific, medical and public policy studies that have endorsed the therapeutic use of cannabis.

Thirteen states already back the doctor-patient relationship in deciding weather marijuana therapy will help with a debilitating medical condition.

Further, there are hundreds of professional and religious organizations that support medicinal cannabis access by state authorized patients, such as: The American College of Physicians, The American Academy of Family Physicians, American Nurses Association, The American Medical Association's Council on Scientific Affairs, Consumer Repots magazine, The Episcopal Church of the U.S., The Institute of Medicine, Mothers Against Misuse and Abuse, Presbyterian Church General Assembly, National Association of People with AIDS, the HIV Medicine Association, The United Methodist Church and many, many others.

Apparently Rep. True considers all these groups "potheads" although she would likely be alone in that opinion.

Pennsylvania now has the possibility of having this scientifically proven, cost effective therapy of marijuana available while stopping the arrest of thousands of individuals each year for minor possesion who already suffer with their medical conditions.

Rep. True would better serve her constituency to look past the 'potheads' she has encountered in her addiction work and as a legislator, look at the solid data supporting medicinal marijuana.
