Anyone have any idea whats going on with Black Ashley? My concerns are the leaves and the tiny "trunk" seems to get smaller as it goes into the ground. And I have only one leaf on each side.
A mixture of Sphagnum peat, vermiculite, perlite, wetting agent, lime for ph. Along with humus (with forest products, manure), bloodmeal.Seems to be slow growing and a leaf is coming from the stalk. Still hasn't shown classical 5 though. Like your setup MsFox, can we be friends?
I think you should dump the Humous in your soil mixture and use wormcastings instead. There's bug issues with using manure and all the pine bark, needles and other forest products I see in there will most likely wreak havoc with your PH, as SG has already suggested.
Thanks for the replies. I am going to have a funeral for Black Ashley and work towards a sphagnum, bone meal and sand medium, any suggestions on the ratio maybe i can adjust accordingly.
Sand isn't the best for mediums and bone meal needs to break down some before it's usable. I'd buy a bag of good potting soil and forget trying to make my own. Unless you have some special recipe that is. I'd buy some fox farms or sunshine mix or even flower power. They are all tried and tested and proven to work.
