El Dorado County Sheriff's investigators raided two locations on private and public land in El Dorado Hills and seized nearly 6,000 marijuana plants at dawn today.
About 40 heavily armed law enforcement personnel took part in the raids, which began with a citizen's tip that prompted an investigation. The plants were discovered growing near Salmon Falls Road, about 300 to 400 yards from multi-million dollar homes.
Investigators estimate each plant has a street value between $1,500 and $2,500.
Investigators also found graffiti they say is linked to the Mexican Mafia street gang operating out of Southern California.
