R.Q.S. Hulkberry: Attack Of The Clones

Day 54. All the ladies are now getting some of the 1200wMH now so should start to get bigger quicker. I will be needing to hold them down for the others to set their canopies so as not to block too much light from these girls.. They are looking good with lots of new leaf growth too. If i can keep them going like this then let them go when i flip , she should give me some good equally heavy buds. Leaves feel nice and fresh and are all facing up as they should. I have numbered them better now to see how they compare as they go. They have still got a lot of moisture in the pots so dont need anymore feed for a while.

Thanks irie. They have started to head up more with the tips over past few days. I think all the holding back and moving about has pissed them off a bit so they dont want to be fooled into believing the sun is back out for them. lol A woman scorned and all that !!!( waiting for the onslaught ) .
It looks like another tie down session is in order now too. The other new girls are nearing their 5th nodes and these girls are lining up with them for a canopy so well. I am glad i spread them out and held them back as they definitely needed the head start being clones. Hopefully all the growth will follow suit from this point.( And the crack in my ass might heal up too!!!!.lol)
Still undecided wether to get a scrog on or just supercrop as i go. Both have advantages and limits but i know these are going to be tall like their momma if i let them go vertical now. They do have long node spacing too with the Bum Pheno i got. The mum was 1.5m( approx ) with about 6 merristems , didnt give her much veg time from seedling ( 2 1/2 weeks) and she only produced just under 3oz. She was also in the prime position in the tent as i had big hopes following the hype on their advert!!. I took clones due to only getting 1 out of 6 seeds to germinate properly , 4 never did a thing( 3 were replacements !!!) and 1 grew an inch and dropped dead overnight!!!!. Have yet to see the " good" pheno in any searches for its grown out harvest and seems to be a lot of "oh well , next time" results.
As you can tell , i am not filled with hope or joy for them yet and am hoping to be made a fool of by their amazing finish !!!!. heehee
Thank fuck for Barneys Farm genetics 100% germed and growing strong !
sadly dissapointed with Royal Queen Seeds efforts to mimic betters breeders work.
wow that all sounds such a downer , sorry mate.lol

Amazing finish coming up! They look like they're doing well now. What's the stretch like on those?

they doubled in height prof. This is what killed it for me. they were great in veg and i only gave them a short one too. only topped once and had to let it do its own thing due to timing issues with the rest of the Barneys girls needing to flower badly. Initially i believed it would be a "my best yield" story from how fast and big but the node spacing was awful. Light distance was mainly changed due to their upward climb but still the nodes kept seperating. Ended with those oversized foxtail buds like pasta. It was a genetic pattern but they were so sparsely growing ,her final tield was pants imo. didnt see the 28%thc either !. My original intention was to scrog the crap out of the 7 clones and nail the poor genetics of the pheno i got lumbered with. Seeing your Barneys just sealed the deal for me as i had been eyeing the GZ for a while too.
I do think these girls look ready for a fight now and cannot fault their overall look at all but my faith is sadly down on RQS agter seeing so many hulkberry growers with dissapointment as i have found too.
Hard to get excited over them yet as we both know what they are up against now too!.lol.
I am determined and know coco better than previous rdwc but any help or advice for these girls would be appreciated Prof. I am. trying to avoid scrog for mobility reasons and have so far been supercropping and lst. seeing how straight up these want to grow , the exposed tips should create some long merristems but there lies the problem. Tip spreading might force them closer maybe ? .
Will get busy on them soon enough. The others are similar size already so they may need to play keep up !. Glad you could pop in prof. always appreciate your eyes on too.

Day 57 veg Update. As expected the grow throws out a curve ball!!!!! Bloody white spidermite has moved in to one of the plane and is trying to annex the one next to her. One has been well nibbled but not damaged yet. seeing them now , before they got on to any more in numbers. I made up a spray bottle with 50/50 Full fat milk/water and some washing up liquid ( Dish soap). I gave the worse one real good dowsing and the rest got a safe spray. I have been keeping this going today and plan to donit till the little bastards die or i have to start removing the plant entirely.
Lets see where we end up. They hate too moist so i will keep them in as high rh as i can build up and watch the air flow.
The plan had been to strap them down again but this can wait till i can get a handle on this. here are some pics from yesterday.

i think their age in veg and being clones has given them a good resistance so far. I think thats how come i missed it till now. Until i am sure they are nailed i am avoiding spreading them out or handling them in case i pass them over to the other grow. Thanks for the confidence boost irie

Cool bro no worries once they get pissed off enough they move over to someone elses grow  If you're looking for another recipe to combat them mites - this ones from my South Africa brother @Smeegol and works like a bomb:

Smeegs organic pesticide:
4x garlic cloves chopped.
4-6x hot chilies chopped.
Add 1lt water

Boil on low heat for 45min then remove from heat and strain off the liquid then add

1x tbl spoon cooking oil
1x tbl spoon dishwashing liquid

And mix all together then spray your plants every 2-3 days depending how bad the problem is brothers.....

Thanks mate i will get on that when we go shopping. i have used milk before to good effect too. It is one of the most underrated growers friends and can work magic if used correctly. My first grow here was the breast milk as additional nutes one. It works on any soft bodied shitbags and even flies and the like.

Morning mr.GD I haven't played with milk much in the prevention direction as I have a pooch who will lick my flowers to death and her tongue is like a cheese grater so I don't think I'd have much plant material left....haha

If you are so inclined you can add a handful of pipe tobacco to 1lt of water and let steep for a day or 2 then add
1x tbl spoon dish soap
1x tbl spoon cooking oil
2x tbl spoon hydrogen peroxide

And spray every 2-3 days as I found this remedy also works against spider mites and nasties......

Not many folk like to use tobacco but it's an inexpensive way at combatting pests and it works as well, I haven't used it in flower only veg....

Not heard of that use for tobacco before and natural too. thanks smeegol. Love the info and uses for available remedies on here too. had to have been discovered by tobacco farmers maybe ?. I am hopeful to not have to lose one more of these as down to 4 to grow out now and i hate losing plants to pests rather than choice.

looks great gonna set back and enjoy the rest of this trip:popcorn:
Welcome aboard jetsgrower. Always a seat and a ramble here for you mate.

This might be a silly question but where do spider mites live when they're not on our lovely ganja? I don't think I've ever seen them in nature before
They hide away in old leaf matter and surface soil until a new host can support a bigger colony when conditions are right. Bastards. They love the warm ,dry and sadly it has been perfect for them recently with lower rh and heat spell. I have mixed up some to tobacco/water and am leaving it overnight as per smeegols suggestion. The milk is working i think but these little bastards have a long life cycle. need to catch those little shits hatching over the next 5 days too , so changing solution can avoid them developing an immunity too. Normally microscopic till they hit the succulent chlorophyll to bang the size on. It wont kill me too much to lose the worse infected if need be. The barneys will happily use the space i think Prof.

F@acking mites bro. I have the same problem outdoor this year in 2 plants. Every 2 -3 days i sprayed neem oil mix.
1liter water
5ml neem oil
5gramm green soap
5ml rosmary extract diy (3-5 days in water and mixed every day 3-6 times before use)
Good luck. In my plants is very good. The problem is gonne now.

good to read that mate. thankfully less attacks with indoor grows but they are a real pain. Thanks for the mixture suggestion too.

Hi mate sorry only just read your new accolade. Well done on the bud porn win. what a beautiful dense looking bitch if a bud. Top respect mate

Update day 59 veg: It had to happen at some point!!!! my first invasion of spidermites and i cannot risk the room getting infested. I spent 4 days spraying them with a 50/50 milk/ water soap spray and got a lot of the adults and hatchlings. seeing so many affected leaves on the main culprit gave me no choice but to take drastic action. 2 of the girls have been scrapped.
I am gutted to have to give in in them but dont want to waste time fighting them off , risking the rest in the process.
I can concentrate on the two remaining girls better now and spent time spreading them out more ready for the final push to get flowering. I am happy with their growth and potential for sites is definitely there if given light to them. They got a good staking out for a bushy grow and it showed how many there could be. fingers crossed
