So just starting out on my grow. 4x4 with 4 plants in 5 gallon pots. What wattage and distance from the plant should the CMH be? I have 3 auto’s and 1 feminized that just got planted after germination.

I can't speak specifically for CMH (I use LED or sunlight) but seedlings need softer lighting in the first week or so. If you can dim, take it to 50% and put it where you normally have it for grows. No dimmer, then put it high for a week. Slowly lower it after that until you see there isn't any discernible stretch.

:goodluck:

Hi High, I've run mine at between 18 and 24 inches for thriving plants that are a few weeks old and older. Seedlings I go all the way up to 4 feet for the first few weeks, slowly bringing it down. Thats a powerful light that needs space to develop a footprint. Good luck! What wattage?? do you mean? Is yours adjustable? Your going to have an interesting grow.

Exactly what the above said I have the same light as you I don't have glass or air in mine and all I do is keep a fan blowing over the conopy and once there big enough 18 to 24 is the sweet spot one thing I will warn you on is they will grow to the center of the light so you will have to move them around a little I have a 39x39 inch tent and keep moving my light and am very happy with the results
