Questions about flowering.

so i am wondering a few things about when i put my plant in the flower stage. First i am gonna get my moter's healthy again. Then take the clones i need and wait a week or so. By then i will have the light i ordered.{1,000 hps grow light 1,000 watt ballest with vertizontal reflector} the question is: I have heard when putting your plants into flower mode they will double if not triple in size. Dose this mean both tall and wide? If so how can i possably flower my mothers?
My total plant hight with bucket is 5' 4", my mothers actual hight is 4' tall as of now. My grow rom m is 7' 3",i will have to keep my hid light at least 18" to 24" above the plants.plus the reflector will take up another 12" meaning if i were to start flowering with in the next day or so my plants would grow too tall right to the light. And with no more room to move my light would burn them.right? Or will theyonly grow to the light an then stop if i don't move the light?

hey Iron,

I have given that advice many times,, that plants will double or may even triple in size in flower,, but did not heed my own advice..lol

I got some real tall ones now, I had to tie down the tops to keep them from hitting the light..

now, I am topping them before they leave the veg cab, so they are a little shorter, and won't get as tall..

when you take your clones,, top her as well, (take a clone from the top) and trim her down a bit,, tie her down too if needed,, let her heal up, then put her in flower..

its not generally a good idea to flower the mother....been there and done that and have the T-shirt...I grew a huge mother that I was sure would give me a great yield...it wasnt worth the agg and time to tie it down and the electricity.....trust me...take cuttings and either keep the mother going or start another but dont bother flowering her
