Im just looking to find a cheap lighting set up that will work for me.. and I do mean cheap, I just got married, and have 2 car payments, lol...

Re: Question on light bulbs...

yes they will... done it be4... and I know plenty of other ppl it's worked for... i started with 3 26w daylight spectrum bulbs... then bumped it up 2 weeks in to 3 26w daylight, 2 42w warm white, and 1 13w cool white... then for flowering I just put in 6 42w warm white bulbs... and it was in a box slightly larger than high kid's...

Sweet man, I probally just steal your design and lighting set up (if you don't mind) I only plan on growing 1 maybe 2 plants at a time... Anyone know of a good way to kill the smell like maybe a cheap little air filter or something..

Re: Question on light bulbs...

I have been successful several times using only CFL's. I used a total of 230 watts in a small closet finishing either 1 or 2 plants. The Indica/Sativa hybrids only get about 3 feet tall or so. I let them veg for as long as 2 months since sometimes it takes that long to get them good and bushy given that I am at high elevation-(5000 ft) and am willing to let the things take their time.

Here is another bit of info I learned when I harvested the 1 plant I had going about one week ago: Don't skimp on the container size. I have been using 5 gallon buckets, but with this last plant I only filled it with about 3 gallons soil. After cutting the plant and emptying the contents I discovered that the plant had become seriously root-bound with the roots wrapping all the way around the container several times. They say to allow 1 gallon of container space per month the plant is growing. I have often seen huge plants finishing in 3 gallon containers. How do they do this w/o root problems? Ya gotta see just how wild cannabis is at putting out roots. It has been a revelation to me!!

Re: Question on light bulbs...

I would guess I get about 2 oz per plant. I have finished NL, Blueberry, Durban Poison and California Orange Bud.

Re: Question on light bulbs...

well the trick most people dont realize. most growers watch over the roots more than the plant itself. roots are important! alot of growers look after every aspect of the roots that could possibly be a problem .they say the canopy of the plant is as large as the portion of the roots. in short the root system is going to be as big as the canopy of the plant.

Re: Question on light bulbs...

Any one know where to find a Red Spectrum Flourex bulb that is a 500w (65w) bulb?
