Question about timing

I'm starting some seeds indoors, this will be my 3rd go round.....I have 5 seeds started and I plan to keep 2 or 3 indoors. The previous times, I have just culled the other 2 or 3 plants after about 3 weeks of veg. This time I am thinking of just putting the other plants outside. Assuming they germinate in the next few days, Is it too late in the year to expect any type of harvest outside?
As to where I live, let's say Southern California.

Go for it, i think there is enough time to get a decent return... becides, you have nothing to loose
