Question about CMH and MH

I have just recently learned about CMH, from all the journals going around where people are now using these vertically with no reflectors and getting great results.

Well I has wondering if you used a regular vertical MH with no reflectors, if the results would be similar? I am guessing this has already been thought out, so that is why I am making this thread.

I currently own a Hortilux MH to HPS 400w conversion bulb. This bulb can be used in any position in a closed fixture, and vertically in an open fixture. I am thinking of going vertical with no reflector, but don't know if this would be a waste of time.

It would be nice if I could do this because then I could hook this up in my stealth room. So basically I want to know why CMH is being used? And also what is the difference between CMH and MH?

Thanks ahead of time!!

CMH has more of a full spectrum, closest to the sun is what I've heard. A regular MH will work great during veg, but will produce significantly less weight than a HPS in flower.

There is not a ton of info out there about CMH, some grows here and there..and plenty of mixed results. Some people say the CMH produces less weight, more leaves, but also more trichs.

Others say they can produce the same weight with CMH and danker bud.

I'm currently using a 250w CMH and am happy with it, though I am still in veg. The bulbs are relatively cheap and only work in magnetic HPS ballasts. Worth trying IMO.

Thanks Marley! I am currently looking to see if my HPS bulb is OK to hang vertically. If that is the case, then I can just switch to that in flower.

Also need to see if my HPS ballast is magnetic. Bought it 4 years ago, so who knows.

+reps for the help bud!
