I built an Aeroponic/Top Dip/DWC system using an 18 gallon Rubbermaid tote. I want to outfit it with a water level indicator that also has a spigot to do small drain outs for testing ph, tds etc. My only concern is using a clear tube for the sight glass. I noticed in a few hydro kits some use a clear blue tube that can be rolled to drain off some water.
Does the blue in the clear block a certain spectrum of light that algae thrives off of? Or is there a certain color of clear tubing that can be exposed to small amounts of light that will deter the formation of algae?
