Power surges - outages

So, I've read conflicting info on this and am reaching out to you guys. Would I be best suited to invest in a batt backup for my light/ballast? We have frequent, (at least once/mth), power flickering that drives me mad, and I was looking at different power surges, then realized that just protecting from surges isn't enough??

I can't imagine this is good for either the bulb or the ballast, and do not want to lose my hard work to something preventable.

Any suggestions and/or insight from experience is sincerely appreciated!

Rated surge protectors is always a good thing to save HPS bulbs and LED's. A generator is a step up in growing, but if you have constant power outages, a good investment.

thanks. yah, it sux because it's just the brown outs or whatever they're called. Doesn't usually stay off for longer than 10 sec's. I already have a $40 range APC SP that's rated at something like 33k joules or similar. I think I just may go with a backup just to be safe. (first time hid user and all)
