Investigators from the Collier County Sheriff's Office seized 118 marijuana plants after discovering a marijuana growing operation Thursday morning in Golden Gate Estates.
At about 7 a.m. investigators served a search warrant for drugs at a house at 730 Ninth St. S.W. Inside the house they found the garage and a secondary bedroom had been converted into grow rooms, the Sheriff's Office reported. In addition to the 118 marijuana plants, which weighed about 100 pounds, the investigators also found a quarter pound of processed marijuana.
The seized marijuana was valued at about $119,000, authorities said.
The investigators also seized two air conditioners, high intensity light bulbs, transformers and light hoods from the house. The items, which were valued at about $15,000, were connected and set up for the purpose of growing marijuana, authorities said.
Investigators arrested 33-year-old Adael Gonzalez-Gonzalez, who lives at the house. He was charged with one count of trafficking in marijuana over 25 pounds, a felony, and one count of possession of narcotic paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
The $423,324 house is owned by Roberto Montes De Oca, the Collier County Property Appraiser's Office reported.
This is the second grow house bust in Golden Gate Estates in as many weeks. On Dec. 14, investigators seized 171 marijuana plants, 3.5 pounds of processed marijuana and $30,000 of growing equipment at a house on 1841 27th St. S.W.
