re: Plz help mix a good indoor soil

you would wanna have more soil than any other stuff you mix.... after all, soil is your growing medium...

i personally use 60/40 - soil/perlite

more opinions will come soon enough.... patience ;)

re: Plz help mix a good indoor soil

60 - soil
30 - perlite
10 - worm gold

you could add a little dolomite lime to the mix to stabilize the PH

Here's a few good recipies, the last one if by far the best I've used:

1 part organic soil
1 part coco fiber
1 part castings
2 parts perlite

60% peat based mix with added perlite (Pro-Mix HP,Sushine Mix,etc.)
30% perlite for proper drainage and oxygen to roots
10% worm castings, they provide some N, micros, and beneficial bacteria

To each gallon of this mix I add:

2 TBS/gal dolomite lime, provides a ph buffer around 7
1 TBS/gal blood meal for N
2 TBS/gal bone mean for P (flowering mix only)
1 TBS/gal kelp meal or ground seaweed for K and trace elements

1 bag Ocean Forest
1 bag Light Warrior
1 bag planting mix
1/6 of the big bag of FoxFrm Chunky Perlite

ive been lookin for some soil recipes too

re: Plz help mix a good indoor soil

My newest orgaic soil mix is taken from High Times and slightly modified.

1 16qt. bag of Pro Mix Seed and Clone

20% perlite
15% vermiculite
15% worm castings
2 tbls. Bat guano (Mexican for veg, Jamaican for flowering.)
2 tbls. Rainbow Mix dry fert. (5-5-2) (veg only, contains beneficial fungus)

You are looking for good drainage (perlite, worm casting) as well as a small amount of water retention (vermiculite). Also, this type of Pro-Mix has lime added so you may only need to add lime late in the flowering cycle if at all. High Times suggests adding kelp meal but I have substituted bat guano and another dry fertilizer for it.

Lime is necessary to bring the pH back up after the peat contained in the mix has degraded and made the soil mostly acidic. A pH test should be always be done prior to the application of lime.

Using that last recipe (Ocean Forest, Light Warrior etc...) what nutrients did you give your plants while it was growing?

Hey mate, theres a few good mixes been suggested for you already that most of them are fairly regularly used now with good results.. I use a certain potting mix from here, some light sand for drainage and then i add sum pea straw mulch, just enuf to aerate the soil abit more, a little cal-mag, mix that all in together and ive had good results with that, im adding worms or their castings this time to see if any change to ph and growth differences.. Goodluk and Happy Harvesting;) :thumb:
