Plants seem small

Hi Michiganders. I have a pair of Amnesia
Auto Fems growing in 3 gallon bags under a led light, 20” away. Plants are only 8” high at about two months old. 72 degrees with 40’s humidity. Watering once a week with every other water including some Fox Farm nutes. I received another grow light from Santa. Tent is 3x3’ and there is room for another light above. But will it help grow my plants TALLER? I chose this strain because they are to be shorter. Will this plant put on a growth spurt before maturing?? Thanks.

I'm fairly inexperienced but I can relate. I'm growing two indica plants and trained them heavily. Are you tying branches down and training?

Mine stayed under a foot tall for months but I kept the branches going wide. I now have two plants that span almost 5 feet wide but are only 18inches tall. I expected more vertical growth during the stretch bit because they seem to have strong indica genes I only got about 6 to 8 inches.

Other things I know that will spurt growth are environment conditions and any deficiencies, lockouts or toxicity from too much of a nutrient.

I had my 300w led qb at 25 to 30inches for much of veg phase as well. If you want them to reach up you could raise your light to encourage them to reach for it.

I’d love 18” tall plants. Not training them. I’ve read about it. Here is a b/w foto of mine now. Looks like most branches are the same length. These came from seeds started in November. I was holding off watering a week apart. Then plants started drooping so I had to water on Monday not Wednesday and they popped right back by Tuesday, like they were watered with Cialis. I topped only one plant so now plants are the same heigth. I lowered light 2” but can go back and raise it. Plant bags are off the tent floor with a milk crate cut in half under each bag. Airs out nicely. What else can I do?? Thanks for the help.

Again no expert but your plants are obviously in bloom, I missed that part. After 3 weeks of post flower stretch they won't grow vertically anymore. Now they will just fill

How long have they been flowering?
When flowering starts, they'll stretch for about 3 weeks,as @DeeCee112 said- so if they've been flowering for 3 weeks now, they aren't going to get any taller...now you just wait for the buds to ripen.

No,once the stretch is done,it's done- the next thing it will do is die, after the buds get done "ripening".
That's what autos do- it is possible to re-veg a photoperiod plant after harvest, but that's not possible with an auto-they just die.
One site’s description of this plant was robust and 1-1.5 meters tall.
The site's description was based on a plant grown under perfect conditions, start to finish-so there may have been something going on that your plants weren't happy with.
With autos, the first 3 weeks need to go very well-if they don't,it can affect the plant negatively it's whole life.

Hey @Finnicki - what kind of lights are you using? You could probably lower them to 15" (38 cm) above canopy.

The more light you have, the bigger the buds are!

Just don't put your lights too close - we don't want too much heat from the lights burning the buds!

I am hoping that in your next round of growing, we can get that plant much taller.

If you start a grow journal here, we will follow along and make sure your plants are healthy and your harvests huge!

what is the LED's wattage ? generally light distance an increase plant height and strain does have an influence on plants height indica's are generally smaller plant to sativa's but this is not counting the transition stage which is about 1-2x's the plants height when flipped - a 250 watt is perfect for you space (veg= 4by4 flower is 3by3)

Your doing fine just keep at it.
Although...you might want to read up on the life cycle of cannabis -this alone will answer most of your questions about what to expect from your next grow.
you can read about it here:

I have a LED 600. 60 bulbs at 10 each. Built in fan, not any heat a foot away. Santa
brought me a second light this Christmas. My tent is small, 3x3x6. A second light will fit in there. But the useable vertical area is less due to light, exhaust fan/filter. I ordered these seeds because of their lack in height. Haven’t hung the second LED yet feeling at this point it is not needed.

Ok. Rookie coming back at ya with a photo of our autos. Pistils have gone amber. But I see no buds. Thought more would show. Micro plant (8”), micro buds? Plants are like two months old. They seem to carry the color more under the LED light than outside the tent.

Another foto from today. Are they ready? Doesn’t the trich’s turn cloudy? Thanks 0B2137EE-D354-45EA-8ED1-0E13A9E67A96.jpeg

Given the size of that plant you'll get small, very small mugs. 80% of the hairs need to be red and the trichomes need to start going milky.

GL and grow happy

Thanks for the tips. Trimmed two branches off today. Pistils have turned. Triches not yet. I remember reading somewhere about the triches changing. So I’ll wait some more. Found new pistils below areas I trimmed. So I wait. Am eager to see if she likes this strain. Best of luck. Happy growing. The Finn
