Plant stretched too far

I have 1 plant that displayed excessive stretch during the first week.the problem has since been fixed. ( problem was rectified by lowering the lights to 4" above the canopy). I have also constructed a miniature "cane" as to give it vertical support. My question is will the stem grow to the proper proportions to support a fully grown plant. Should I continue to provide vertical support, or am I just wasting time and space?

pictures will help,if its a seedling you can replant, also a small breeze will strengthen a weak stem

you can re-pot the seedling now "deeper" I put them deep enough so there is about 1/2 to 1" of stem above ground.
