This comment is a few days late but growth is NOT slowed when your lights are closer...it might seem that way but that's because the plants will stretch to get the light intensity they need so appear to grow faster when the light is too far away. They use up most of their energy getting taller. Instead, you want them to have less internodal space and get wider so bring the light closer. If it isn't uncomfortable for your hand it is fine for the plants. With a gentle, oscillating fan keeping air moving intermittently in the area between the tops of the plants and the light, most LED's can be within a foot to 18 inches of the plants.

HID has a lot more intensity and is effective further than LED. Also has a lot more heat so you just have to gauge the closest you can keep them without burning using the hand test.

Light intensity falls off exponentially, which means 2 feet from the light there is roughly 1/4 of the intensity (lumens) at 1 foot. Light is the food, not nutes. Nutes enable the chemical processes that turn the light into glucose, and the plant to utilize it, but the actual food is the light. So get those lights closer and quadruple their food. You will see a difference.

Just want to make a comment on this. There are different ways of growing in coco but to me it comes down to two different people. Cultivator and ledrf. They both have different styles of growing but both have excellent info to share and I highly advised anyone in coco to look through ledrf stuff too.

The difference I see is if I was growing in a grow op I would be like cult. Less waste, always knowing your ppm. If your ppm is dialed in right there isn't much need for runoff. Like I said I would grow this way if I wanted to avoid waste and was working in a grow op.

Ledrf grow style is a little more kicked back. Ledrf is the one who recommends runoff. This is the way I grow since its just for personal use and only 4 plants. I take what is listed on the nutrients bottle and start at 1/4 strength. I let the plant tell me when to add more as it turns lighter green. Growing like this needs runoff to flush out excess salts. You WILL lock out if your not dialed in like cultivator.

Either style of growing works though :thumb:

Yea I looked threw all LEDRF stuff also. I watch a lot if his videos. He grows a lot of auto though and I agree but never looked at it in that way. Thanks Bedrommfarmer gonna go back and read more of Ledrf stuff. I also love his lights people are doing awesome stuff with them. I am not a cash cropper m more of the personal hobbyist. Just grow for myself. Since this is my first grow I am trying both methods to see what works best. Just like my job (granite craftsmen) I was taught the basics by real good people then dialed things in to my own style if doing things. Thanks for reading and subbing in I need all the help and advice I can get.!!!! Can't wait till I get my Dewey Mister for cloning!!

Hey pino! I'm the same way. I take a little from cult a little from ledrf and make it work for me. So many ways to skin a cat you know but cult and ledrf make it easy. Two different ways of growing is all. We are truly lucky to have this site and so many people willing to share what works for them. His lights are awesome! He has a good thing going. I'm not into autos either Pino, I feel like they are a waste of electricity and are probably better suited to outdoor grows. Granite craftsman? I'll have to look into that. Sounds like fun! I don't think you need any extra help, at least right now. man they are looking great! Hey I put up a little write up link in my LOC thread for you.
 
Hey OG!! All three clones have rooted but made a human error put the rockwool cube in coco in a peat pots and went to sleep. Woke up and man went limp the rockwool must of got sucked dry. So all day I been nursing them back. I got all three looking decent so I think they r gonna pull threw. Bout to put plants into bloom cause I really need to. They are growing so vigorous. Jus waiting for my carbon filter to come in. M gonna shoot some pics for ya bud. Just been so busy jus got a small tent for my mama m gonna keep from this batch. Glad the clones came back the two did get hit bad but when I took the rockwool off them this morning all of them had roots jus need to start growing. Gave them low ppm water jus like 225 ppm but think it did the trick.

Now onto my clones I know they look bad but it is my fault let rockwool dry out but I have confirmed they all have roots and if y'all would of seen them this morning boy I thought they were goners but I believe they will pull threw. Two of them have a bend from where I took it from the plant the stems are still rock hard so here they are!!

Last night when I put them in coco the leaves were green and not dried out but after water and nutrients they all perked up. I will take another pic when growth starts cause I know they are gonna pull threw just from the difference from this morning!! Till next time guys!!! Oh yea I did get a lil tent to house my momma check it out!!

No biggie my best clone is from the most vigorous female so if she yields n taste great that's my momma then garunteed females. Plus m learning everyday from this great community. Oh congrats on member of the month u deserve it and sorry bout them stupid rodents hopefully they pay for there sins!!!!
