120 degrees is what i aim for, let soak for 20-30 min
Strain out the chunks
2 liters of pepper spray!! (can store in fridge for up to 10-20 days)
if you can, find something with a lip, like this measuring bowl
Dr Bronners, Enough Said
it will make poring into mason jar easy, to poor into spray bottle (use a funnel)
This spray bottle is a main key, you can access underneath each node and fan leaf every which angle. making it impossible for those critters to hide.
we just found 20+ lil green caterpillars eating my fiances broccoli plants. this spray has killed the ones i hit and havent seen any come back. every summer when my garden starts taking off it seems the pest like to come out as well. this spray is a must have for your outside gardens. can also work on indoor gardens too just use with caution!
According to your pictures of how you made the spray, you didn't follow the directions in the "witch" book. Why? Does the soaking in the 120F water for 20-30 min increase the potency? Did you add the peppercorns, garlic and citronella leaves while soaking? Where did you find the citronella leaves? Sorry for so many questions, but I would like to get this recipe down pat. It looks like it works really well.
I did not follow the book that's correct. I remember my Gma making a spray similar to this spray that I posted about, then shortly after posting it my fiance found a similar recipe in her herbal/Wiccan book. I don't recall if I mentioned it but I ment to say to never make the same spray twice in a row, always change something to it. Either add rosemary or garlic or citronella you can customize the spray anyway w several herbs and spices.
Finding cintronella leaves will be impossible and fresh leaves will have more oil in the leaves. In my area home Depot has the plants in their nursery section but if u have a local nursery I would recommend getting from them and planting outside. Or if u have made 100% sure that the plant has no pests on it or soil then bring it on in the house. If I can't grow it from seed or clone it they don't come inside the house here I'm going to clone a huckleberry bush this next Tuesday I wanted to this Tuesday but I had no container to hold it other then my camel pac. I'm on my cell so I'll officially respond in a few hrs. Take care c sprite
So here is the fiances special plant that she likes to remind me that i doubted its life at one point.
she cured the plant of its mites with my Completely Organic Homemade Insecticide
Just a quick reminder of what she looked like at one point. look at all them creepy crawlers.. (story of this baby is followed in my organic insecticide thread.
And since i cant showcase this elsewhere, might as well post it here.
Check out this years 3rd generation seeds (harvested from previous years homegrown tomatoes)
Heirloom tomato Started this lady about 3-4 months ago
2.2 liters of water
12 habanera peppers freshly chopped up
6 lemons freshly chopped up
1 tablespoon of rosemary extract (almost takes over the smell, dont forget it still pepper spray)
2 teaspoons of peppermint Dr Bronners soap (added when you pull mixture off the stove, warm water will help spread and break down the soap, then when it turns to room temp, it will be soapy)
i get my temps up to 150-175 degrees on the stove (checked with a food thermometer) for 30 minutes then take her off the stove.
i will take new pictures of the new process for the herbal spray soon.
this spray was used to treat one cannabis plant with Thirps, and one elderberry plant with gnats. both are recovering great and have not seen any pests since initial spray. we will continue to spray for a week.
The warm water and the soap is what will make the spray turn white.
Will be making up a spicy bottle tomorrow. Does add I the peppers effect the ph of the water in any way? I've got a bit of a thrip problem... Yeah its outdoor as well
